ITH JUST WEEKS LEFT IN NEVADA’S 2025 legislative session, the energy in Carson City has shifted into high gear. The Economic Forum has released their revenue projections, kicking off a flurry of budget negotiations with lawmakers sprinting toward the finish line. These final weeks are when big decisions get made, often fast and sometimes without full transparency, and the stakes for Nevada’s retail industry have never been higher. This is the moment when the presence—and persistence—of the Retail Association of Nevada matter most. In a session marked by economic uncertainty and increasing policy complexity, RAN remains the most consistent, credible voice for the businesses that keep Nevada moving. From new technology regulations to expanded workplace rules and data privacy mandates, these policies often fail to recognize the operational realities of small and midsized businesses. What’s more, many of these ideas come bundled with budget line items. As lawmakers finalize

state spending, proposals to fund new enforcement offices or expand regulatory reach are quietly moving forward. These measures rarely make headlines—but for retailers, they result in new compliance obligations, surprise inspections, and legal uncertainty.
