Nevadans to Spend $556.3 Million for Mother’s Day Consumer Focus on Meaningful Gifts and Experiences Nevadans are poised to spend an estimated $556.3 million this Mother’s Day, just behind 2023’s all-time high for the second-highest figure ever recorded, according to the Retail Association of Nevada (RAN). Statewide spending is projected to rise 2.4 percent year over year, though it remains 3.2 percent lower than 2023's historic total. Nationally, the National Retail Federation (NRF) reports that 84.0 percent of consumers plan to honor Mother’s Day, with average spending of $259 per person on popular gifts such as flowers, jewelry, greeting cards and special outings. Flowers and greeting cards remain tried-and-true favorites, with 74.0 percent and 73.0 percent of shoppers, respectively, planning to purchase them. In Nevada, flower sales are projected to reach $51.6 million, while greeting card spending is anticipated to total $17.2 million. Special outings are also high on the list, with 61 percent of shoppers planning experiences that are expected to generate $103.4 million in spending. Gift cards (53 percent, $56.2 million) and clothing or accessories (48 percent, $50.3 million) remain strong contenders. While only 42 percent of consumers plan to buy jewelry, the category leads all others in total dollars spent with anticipated sales reaching $110.3 million. Other popular categories include personal services (34 percent), housewares (29 percent), books or CDs (26 percent) and consumer electronics (22 percent).
