Independence Day Spending Reaches Record High in Nevada Nevadans Gear up for a $206 Million Celebration as National Trends Shift Nevadans are planning to go all out to celebrate the nation’s founding with the biggest birthday party of the year. Retailers in the Silver State are preparing for record consumer spending of $206 million* for Independence Day, according to the Retail Association of Nevada. Nationwide, consumers are expected to spend $8.9 billion, a 5.3 percent decrease from last year’s figure, according to a recent survey by the National Retail Federation. However, spending per person across the country is projected to average $92.44 on food, beverages, patriotic decorations and other items, a 2.2 percent increase from the previous survey. Independence Day remains one of the most widely celebrated holidays of the year, with 86 percent of Americans planning to show their love for the red, white and blue. "While national Independence Day spending is showing signs of softening, Nevadans are expected to spend a record $206 million this year—a reminder of both the strength and sensitivity of our local economy," said Bryan Wachter, President of the Retail Association of Nevada. "Retailers are navigating a complex environment marked by inflation concerns, wage pressures, and shifting consumer priorities. This year’s spending is less about unchecked optimism and more a reflection of how Nevadans continue to prioritize community, tradition, and celebration—even as they remain cautious with their budgets." The NRF reports that the most popular way to celebrate this year is a picnic or barbecue, with 61 percent of respondents planning to attend such gatherings. Other popular activities include fireworks and community celebrations (41 percent), taking a vacation (13 percent) or attending a parade (12 percent). Additionally, 29 percent of consumers intend to purchase a patriotic item for this year’s festivities. www.RANNV.org 1 of 2
