Welcome to Sierra Ranches, It is with great pleasure that we welcome you to our Hereford Bull Sale once again at our La Grange, California, ranch. It is without saying it’s importance to acknowledge that this is where we began our Hereford Bull Sale journey many years ago. The continued working relationship between Vintage Angus, Sierra Ranches and all our customers is what drives us to continue producing cattle that can make a difference in the beef industry. We have set out to offer bulls that are extremely well-traveled, sound and to go out and work! This set of bulls has once again been backgrounded this past winter through late spring in these foothills from December to May, grazing on native feed. It is our belief that structure, soundness, and genetics are what makes these bulls set themselves apart from other establishments. It is keeping the commercial cattleman’s interests first and the continued growth within the industry. As Sierra Ranches operates a commercial program, we have firsthand knowledge of the benefits of bringing Hereford Genetics into a program. Herefords have added the docility, fertility and longevity into our cow herd.The Baldy heifers produced from our genetics have made positive influences in our herd, as well as in our longstanding customers’ herds. This group of bulls is our best set to date, being sound-footed, powerfully constructed and carrying a well-balanced set of genomic values to back them up. Herefords have increased our weaning weights, fertility and longevity, along with bringing in a great deal of docility. Having our own commercial herd allows us to also use our California Homegrown Bulls in our herd and collect the data that tells us what these bulls can do for our customers. In the best interest of the beef industry and belief in our cattle, we have continued to feed them out to verify our genetic direction. As you can see, this has allowed us to be vertically integrated from the purebred breeder to the beef packer. Knowing what our cattle can produce and the benefit to our customers is the upmost importance to our family. Sierra Ranches has continued to gain the carcass information of the calves produced out of our purebred Hereford Bulls and Females. Over the last several years, we have utilized the American Hereford Association’s feed-out program. This program continues to fuel genetic and management practices. The National Junior Hereford Association’s (NJHA) Fed Steer Shootout contest teaches juniors about the opportunities and challenges of the cattle feeding industry.
