Dr. Steve Schultz has done a stringent Breeding Soundness Evaluation on each bull in this sale. All bulls selling are considered as satisfactory, potential breeders, and are guaranteed as breeding bulls through the first breeding season. If a problem should arise, please contact us and we will offer a replacement bull of equal or greater quality. If a replacement is not available when needed, a credit will be issued for Mound Creek’s 2027 Bull Sale.
(A) A Female is NOT guaranteed to be a breeder after the date of the sale when that female is used or attempted to be used in an embryo transfer program, unless by a separate agreement between the buyer and seller. (B) Even though it is possible some of the females have worked successfully in embryo transfer programs in the past, and should in the future, there is NO guarantee of warranty on future embryo production of any sale female.
To simplify our female sale, we will not retain breeding or embryo interests in any female in this sale. However, if any female goes into embryo production in her future, Mound Creek, or our cooperators, will retain the rights on every female in the sale to one embryo collection or IVF oocyte harvest at our expense.
Mound Creek Ranch will offer to keep any heifer sold in this sale for a prearranged breeding period to AI to any available Mound Creek herd sire and then breed said heifer to Mound Creek natural service sires. If interested in this program please contact ranch staff or marketing team to understand payment terms and details for this Heifer Breeding Option.
Cattle can be loaded out during and after the sale. We ask that any pot-sized loads wait until the conclusion of the sale. We will load out cattle on Friday, Saturday and Sunday and ask that each buyer inform the clerks of your desire to load out on Sunday along with an approximate time of arrival. If you require a load out on another day, please inform the clerks as to your desired date and time.

Welcome to Mound Creek Ranch! We hope you will join us March 20 and 21 for America’s Red, White, and Blue Sale and help us honor the birth of our great country founded 250 years ago! We are thankful and excited for so many positives in our country and consider ourselves blessed so much to be American with the freedoms, gifts and opportunities our great country provides each of us. Mound Creek Ranch holds the distinction of being the longest running Brangus breeder to consecutively host an active bull sale event dating back to our first sale in 1993. This longevity is only possible with the annual support of our cattle buyers and friends.
God has blessed us beyond measure at Mound Creek to have a ranch team of such a high character and dedication led by Timmy Sparkman, along with team members Josh Wood, Julio Ibarra, Jake Hansen, Mark and Mary Hansen, and let’s not forget our “bull whisperer” Paul (Chilly) Philley. Another God-given blessing with our team members is watching their families grow up at Mound Creek. Yes, we buy lots of candy and tickets to something but that’s nothing compared to the fun, joy, and blessings we have watching the Sparkman, Wood, and Hansen kids grow up at Mound Creek Ranch.
We have dedicated these decades to building a program with a brand representing quality, character, reputation, and leading-edge seedstock cattle recognized around every corner of the globe. Accept our invitation to drop by anytime and look through the sale cattle, but more importantly, we hope you can be with us on March 20 and 21 to enjoy this year’s tribute to America and the 250 year birthday of our nation. The registered females will sell Friday, March 20 along with items to be auctioned off with all proceeds going to the International Brangus Breeders Foundation for fund raising efforts. The 180 Commercial Heifers and bulls sell Saturday, March 21.
The National Cattle Inventory Report was released January 30, 2026, from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), The National Agriculture Statistics Service (NASS), and the Agriculture Statistics Board. As of January 1, 2026, the following was reported:
• All cattle and calves in the United States totaled 86.2 million head which is down slightly compared to the 86.5 million head reported January 1, 2025, and continues the decline of an estimated 1% inventory reduction on January 1, 2025, of a 1% compared to the 2024 inventory.
• All cows and heifers that have calved, at 37.2 million head, were slightly below 37.3 million on January 1, 2025.
• Beef cows were estimated 27.6 million head and down 1% compared to a year ago. Milk cows, at 9.57 million head, were up 2% from previous year.
• As of January 1, 2026, the calf crop born in 2025 was estimated at 32.9 million head, which is down 2% from the estimated 2024 calf crop.
• Cattle and calves on feed for the slaughter market in the United States for ALL feedlots totaled 13.8 million head which is down 3% from the January 1, 2025, report of 14.3 million head.
• Since 2020 all cattle and calves inventory in the United States has declined from just over 94 million cattle to the just released estimate of 86.2 million head!
Translation, our cow/calf producers will be paid premiums for their inventory at record values while forecasts continue to be highly optimistic for the continuation of high demand from tight supplies. The real beneficiary of this supply/demand market will be those producers buying genetically superior seedstock bulls, raising high quality calves with genetics to get extra performance, genetics to stay healthy, genetics to go big in the yards, genetics to feed efficiently, and finally genetics that attract attention for those cattle that will hang well and satisfy packer needs. Exactly the kind and quality of genetics we build at Mound Creek Ranch!
From Dr. Mark Johnson, Respected Extension Beef Specialist, Oklahoma State University Dr. Johnson describes a good bull as one with registration papers, quality pedigree information, genetic values to include genomically enhanced EPDs (GE-EPDs), passed a Breeding Soundness Examination and sells with breeding warranty, and a bull that will add value to calves sired due to genetic merit and said bull(s) fit individual program breeding objectives and marketing plans.
Using market reports released by USDA and based on the overall national average for the week ending February 6, 2026:
• 550 lb. weaned steer calves are worth about $470.00/lb. for a value of $2585/head. If my future marketing plan is to sell weaned steers, $2590 x 5 = $12,925 is the answer.
• 800 lb. yearling steer are worth about $3.70/lb. for a value of about $2960/head. If my future marketing plan is to sell yearling steers, $2960 x 5 = $14,800 is the answer.
• 1500 lb. finished beef steers are worth $2.45/lb. for a value of $3675/head. If my future marketing plan is to retain ownership selling on live weight basis, $3675 x 5 = $18,375 is the answer.

So, in this current market, a good bull is worth somewhere between $12,000 and $18,000 to a commercial cow/calf operation. One key point illustrated here is that the longer you own the offspring before marketing, the greater the value of the bull to your operation.
We Use Everything In the Toolbox
• How many times do you go to a bull sale and cannot find a weaning weight, yearling weight, or just about anything else that gives you confidence those cattle were actually measured for something, for anything? That answer might be NONE, except Mound Creek Ranch. Our weights and measures are what they are. Mostly excellent, some maybe not, but you deserve to review them if you choose to do so. We simply believe data gathering is part of our “toolbox” and therefore important information for our bull buyers.
•Mound Creek Ranch offers stock bulls documented for superior traits of economic importance to include performance, growth, and carcass merit at the highest level. The entire sale offering ranks on average in the TOP 10% of the breed for Weaning Weight, Yearling Weight and IMF (Marbling), TOP 5% for Ribeye Area, and TOP 3% for Terminal Index. Yes, our genetics will gain and hang!
• Those blessings of fertility, calving ease, soundness, maternal value, udder quality, calf raising value, keeping ability, and temperament are the long-term genetic bonuses from Mound Creek stock bulls! The entire sale offering ranks on average for Fertility and Herd Retention in the TOP 10% for Breed Back, Stayability, TOP 15% for Heifer Pregnancy and Number of Calves AND TOP 10% for Total Maternal Value!
• Fertility IS the most economically important trait in the cattle industry! You will find our Fertility Trait Values are the BEST in the seedstock cattle industry! Period! Particularly when you consider these high levels of fertility are also blended with elite growth, carcass merit, and optimum milk and calving ease. Our cow herd, the data behind the herd, and national GE-EPD values are confirmation!
• Every bull in the sale offering has passed a strict BSE that included an actual collection and evaluation of a semen sample, including the spring born yearling bulls.
• Percentile Ranks associated with GE-EPD values are the most important component of the entire database in this catalog. Trust these ranked values as they offer the best comparison when evaluating the Mound Creek cattle in comparison to all other animals in the Brangus breed!
• Nearly 44% of the cattle in this sale rank in the best 35% of the breed for Calving Ease Direct, 47% of the sale bulls have an actual birthweight of 75 lbs or less, and 87.3% of the bulls have birth weights of 85 lbs. or less.
• Our industry continues to sell cattle by the pound and the entire offering in this sale rank in the TOP 10% for both weaning weight and yearling weight GE-EPD values.
DNA technology, and its various forms of use in the beef industry, is here to stay and we have embraced this technology as a positive impact in our world of raising genetically gifted seedstock cattle. From correct pedigree verification, more accurate genomic markers validating EPD trait values, to unlocking the science behind the composition of our two parent breeds, our industry will be better served by adding this pure form of black and white science in an industry that at one time was ruled by nothing but subjectivity.
Factually, there are no programs with “true” Brangus which are defined on paper as 3/8 Brahman and 5/8 Angus, or 37.5% Brahman and 62.5% Angus. Science tells us our national Brangus breed average is around 25% Brahman and 75% Angus, so we provide in this catalog the “facts” for DNA percentages of Brahman and Angus in our sale cattle. DNA combination from each parent is random and therefore at each mating it is impossible to “control” in a composite breed how much bos indicus vs bos taurus each offspring receives. We are simply giving you the facts science provides.
Yes, on average, our REG cattle will have the highest percentage of bos indicus DNA, followed by UB2 cattle and then UB1. However, within each group you will find wide swings of these Brahman vs Angus compositions. Also, be sure and balance marketing needs for your steer calves with just enough bos indicus to realize hybrid vigor, disease and parasite tolerance, hardiness and durability, and mothering value in our environmental requirements.
Stockmen generally know what kind of bull is preferred relative to phenotype, design, measurements, leather, etc. Closely study genomically enhanced EPD (GE-EPD) ranks, and place high emphasis in this information! Don’t hesitate to ask for assistance or recommendations from any of our staff or sales team. BUY THE BULLS THAT FIT YOUR NEEDS and the LONG-TERM GOALS OF YOUR PROGRAMS.

Our GE-EPD values are the BEST in Brangus particularly when considering their impressive balance of antagonistic traits that are the envy of Brangus seedstock business. We simply ask you to compare the factual differences relative to the choices you face.
2026 GE-EPD National Percentile Ranks For All Mound Creek Sale Cattle
Compared to the Entire National Brangus Population
H Preg: 15%; Stay: 10%; Breed Back: 10%; Num Calves: 15%; Terminal Index: 3%; CED: 40%; BW: 55%; WW: 10%; YW: 10%; M: 40%; TM: 10%; SC: 45%; REA: 5% IMF: 10%
• The GE-EPDs for 205 sale cattle equate to our entire sale offering averaging a phenomenal TEN TRAITS in the TOP 15% for all traits compared against the entire breed population.
Silage-based bull feeding program with a ration blended with 50% silage, 10% cotton burrs, and 40% premix composed of a protein pellet balancer, cracked corn, and DDGs. Bulls are gain tested post-weaning in long pastures about twenty acres in size. This testing program ensures greater mobility, better hoof and leg soundness, greater forage-based appetite, and bulls more ready to survive and thrive in a real-world forage-based environment.
The Brangus Value project is a comprehensive progeny test overseen by International Brangus Breeders Association designed to follow Brangus and Ultrablack AI sired steers through the feedlots and harvest plants capturing data for genetic evaluations. We now know our cattle can favorably compete in the yard, on the rail, and do so with fewer pen pulls and death losses.
We will sell 100% ownership and possession of every HEIFER selling. However, Mound Creek Ranch (and cooperators) will reserve the rights to one embryo collection or two half collections (IVF harvest or conventional collection) on every HEIFER in the sale at our expense and your convenient timing. Not every heifer in our sale will be collected. However, there are sale heifers we will choose to take our embryo collections and therefore the only reason we can sell heifers of this quality.
For years now our Friday morning campfire coffee and biscuits, Friday Chuckwagon Hash for lunch, and breakfast tacos with campfire coffee for our Saturday morning Sale Day “pick me up” has been provided by the Yarbrough Family in their Chuckwagon set up. We are blessed to have them with us again for our Red, White, and Blue Sale! Great people and great food so while you’re roaming around our pens stop by the Chuckwagon and grab something hot off the fire.
The Houston Chronicle came out with a list of the “Top Nine Places to Eat Between Houston and Dallas.” This blends right in with their feature on The Texas Bucket List, spot in Texas Monthly, Trip Advisor and Yelp ranking at nearly Five Stars over hundreds and hundreds of reviews, and a Five Star ranking from Restaurant Guru. The list goes on with their honors. We’ve been proud to call Jerry friend, and proud to witness the evolution of The General Store over the last two decades! Join us Friday night for a great eating experience!
Come
Plan to be with us on March 20 and 21. Food will be great, sale cattle are awesome, and the party will be historical. In 2024 everyone had fun at our Mexican Fiesta with chips, hot sauce, margaritas, and the best Mariachi Band in the state. In 2025 we had a rocking great time with themes reminiscent of the Rock and Roll eras of the 50s and 60s. DJ Dave kept us in the mood with his great music collections and play list that reminded all of fun times in our past.
This year marks the 250th anniversary of the founding of our country, America, The United States of America, the greatest country in the history of the world. Our theme in 2026 celebrates the birth of our nation and so many of the things that made our country so special. Plan to join us for America’s Red, White, and Blue Sale and help us celebrate being American and the founding of our incredible country. We look forward to seeing you March 20 and 21. Keep in mind, the margaritas were such a smash hit in 2024 we still serve them without the Mariachi Band! Come see us the third weekend in March.

“We Choose to go to the Moon,” President John F. Kennedy, September 12, 1962 “But why, some say, the Moon? Why choose this as our goal? And they may well ask, why climb the highest mountain? Why, 35 years ago, fly the Atlantic? Why does Rice play Texas? We choose to go to the Moon. We choose to go to the Moon... We choose to go to the Moon in this decade (1960’s) and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard; because that goal will serve to organize and measure the best of our energies and skills, because that challenge is one that we are willing to accept, one we are unwilling to postpone, and one we intend to win,” Commander Neil Armstrong and Lunar Module Pilot Edwin “Buzz” Aldrin landed on the moon July 20, 1969 and six hours later Neil Armstrong became the first person to step onto the moon’s surface on July 21, 1969. Those in the cattle business face, at times, insurmountable challenges, yet we gladly accept the difficulties we all face in our beef industry, not because they are easy, but because they are hard.
Invented by William J. Newton in 1925, the toggle light switch provides a simple and efficient way to control lighting in a space. We walk into a room and just feel for the space where we all know the light switch will be located. Do we take this for granted? Absolutely we do! Think about all the ways early Americans developed ways to provide light when it was dark? However, the concept of a simple toggle light switch really reflects America’s indomitable will to succeed and entails decades of American invention, infrastructure development, various ways of creating the ability to provide or make energy, creating the means of getting energy from a central location to homes around the country, building power grids, research, funding, etc. All of this might well have been for nothing if the toggle light switch had never been created. Let’s not forget that leading up to this creation of a toggle light switch, it all started when Thomas A. Edison invented the incandescent light bulb in 1879!
This land transaction was the purchase of rights to the western half of the Mississippi River basin from France by the United States in 1803 in which the United States purchased 828,000 square miles of land for an average of three cents per acre! It was ultimately the greatest land bargain in U.S. history and probably world history. The Louisiana Purchase was explored from 1804 to 1806 by a team led by Meriwether Lewis and William Clark. The Louisiana Purchase eventually doubled the size of the United States, greatly strengthened the country materially and strategically, provided a powerful impetus to westward expansion, and confirmed the doctrine of implied powers of the Constitution. The Louisiana Purchase also gave the United States land from the Atlantic Ocean across the North American Continent to the Pacific Ocean thereby providing, what was unknown and unrealized at the time, tremendous insulation from foreign adversaries.
At Promontory Summit, just north of the Great Salt Lake in Utah, railroads from the East and West finally were joined together marking the completion of the first transcontinental railroad in the United States on May 10, 1869. The “Golden Spike” was driven in to symbolize the joining of the Central Pacific and Union Pacific railroads. The joining of tracks is memorialized at Golden Spike National Historical Park in Box Elder County, Utah. The Transcontinental Railroad greatly enhanced economic growth by promoting the movement of goods and people across the country while cutting travel time from several months to a few days. The resulting coast-to-coast railroad connection revolutionized the settlement and economy of the American West and made transporting passengers and goods coast-to-coast considerably quicker, safer and much less expensive.
President Theodore Roosevelt was America’s champion for conservation efforts of our country’s lands and his most enduring legacy is his enactment of the Antiquities Act of 1906 that was the forerunner of our National Parks System. On August 25, 1916, President Woodrow Wilson signed the “Organic Act” creating the National Park Service, a federal bureau in the Department of the Interior responsible for maintaining national parks and monuments that were then managed by the department. The National Park System has since expanded to 433 units (often referred to as parks) covering more than 85,000,000 acres in all 50 states, and is responsible for conserving the nation’s natural and cultural heritage for the benefit of past, current and future generations. Without the National Parks Service consider having lost or never experienced those national parks designated for Big Bend, Yellowstone, Glacier, Yosemite, Grand Canyon, Sequoia, Redwood, Hawai’i Volcanoes, and Arches. The list of beautiful and breathtaking venues is practically unlimited because of our nations National Park System.
The Thirteenth Amendment, ratified on December 6, 1865, abolished slavery and involuntary servitude in the United States and applies to all individuals, regardless of race or background. This amendment is considered one of the most important (if not the most important) amendments to be constitutionally ratified and paved the way for subsequent amendments addressing civil liberties and human rights advocacy.
The Nineteenth Amendment was ratified on August 18, 1920 granting women the right to vote and prohibits any United States citizen from being denied the right to vote based on sex. This amendment represents a significant win for the women’s suffrage movement that was built on decades of activism and advocacy. The Nineteenth Amendment also marked a pivotal moment in American history, reshaping societal norms while influencing future civil rights movements.

Oil production in American started in 1859 when Edwin Drake drilled the first successful oil well in Pennsylvania which led to vast and rapid expansion of oil drilling all over the country. On January 10, 1901, near Beaumont, Texas the Spindletop Oil Discovery changed Texas and United States history forever and is considered the biggest oil boom in American history. Texas oil led the United States into becoming the world’s leading oil producer. Later, in 1962 in the Ozark Mountains, Jed Clampett discovered oil in a swamp while shootin’ at some food! Robert O. Anderson turned Atlantic Richfield Company (ARCO) into one of the largest oil companies in the world and became the largest landowner in the United States, and the largest registered and commercial Brangus breeder in the country operating under Diamond A Cattle Company out of Roswell, New Mexico! The movie Giant was released in 1956 and depicted another oil boom for a ranching family on a vast west Texas ranch. The movie starred Rock Hudson, Elizabeth Taylor, and James Dean. Another star was a one-ton Brangus bull initially named Snuffy, but renamed King Tut for this epic movie.
The Great Depression marked the most severe economic downturn in modern history, lasting from 1929 to the late 1930’s leading to widespread unemployment that peaked around 25% in the United States. The Great Depression resulted in significant changes to government policies, including the New Deal programs initiated by Franklin D. Roosevelt. Also, this period in American history fostered social changes, including shifts in labor rights and the role of women in the workforce while also influencing art, literature, and culture, reflecting the struggles and resilience of this era in America. The American Depression is an example of the strength, resilience, attitude and grit of the great American people who survived and raised families during this most trying time in our country’s history. Most of us have parents or grandparents who described to us the trials they, and their families, faced in surviving during this time. The Great Depression might well be the greatest example of the strength, will and grit of America and Her people.
To understand the discovery of DNA as genetic material, consider that Friedrich Miescher in 1869 isolated a substance from cell nuclei which contained DNA. More than eight decades later in 1953 James Watson and Francis Crick proposed the double helix structure of DNA, explaining how it replicates and stores genetic information. Their findings established DNA as the fundamental molecule of heredity thereby revolutionizing genetics and molecular biology. Today, the genomic DNA map has been established for the cattle industry making the use of DNA in beef production commonplace, and demanded, in the seedstock side of the beef industry. DNA is now used daily in establishing parentage, coat color, polled/scurred genes, genomic markers to enhance more accurate methods of identifying various genetic traits, assisting in understanding deleterious genetic defects, and now identifying long term health concerns in our beef populations. The list goes on. Yes, DNA is big in the cattle business here to stay.
The pull tab for soft drinks or beer cans was invented in 1962 by Ernie Fraze from Ohio. Ernie was a mechanical engineer and got the idea of pull tabs while trying to open a can of beer back in the day without the benefit of a “church key” can opener. This invention is credited with the widespread growth of the “drink” industry in America. Bet no one thought about the importance of the pull tab on your soft drink or beer can?
Sure, we all have this one down. What would we do without our mobile phones? Maybe live a more peaceful life? Alexander Graham Bell (as we all know) was credited with inventing the first telephone and then receiving the first U.S patent for the telephone and his concept of the telephone system. However, are you aware this single patent is credited with being the most valuable patent ever issued by the U.S. Patent Office? Martin Cooper developed the first handheld mobile phone in 1973 while working at Motorola. Now fast forward and EVERYONE has a mobile phone with most of these phones having more computing power than the Apollo spacecraft that went to the moon and back! Mobile phones named Blackberry, iPhone, Motorola, Samsung, and Google have all been in pockets, purses, or attached to our hips over the last 30 years. Now, we are all connected around the world just with the touch of a few buttons. Go figure!
This cattle breed association was founded in 1949 and established the registry for a new composite breed made up of percentages of bos indicus (Brahman) and bos taurus (Angus). In 1999 IBBA celebrated a 50th Anniversary with a black-tie affair attended by Brangus enthusiast from around the world. Cindy Blazek (yes, our very own) was the chairperson of this incredible event. Forward now to 2024 and IBBA celebrated a 75th Anniversary of the same magnitude and attendance from around the world. The chairperson of this event was long time Brangus breeder Joy Sundbeck.
Another area we in the cattle business often take for granted is the development of large-scale feedlots for high volume feeding systems in the cattle industry. Charles E. McCulloch is often credited with popularizing the feedlot system with the rise of industrial agriculture. Cattle feeding on a large scale was first introduced in the early 1960’s, when a demand for higher quality beef in large quantities emerged. Farmers started becoming familiar with the finishing of beef, but also showed interest in various other aspects associated with the feedlot such as soil health, more efficient crop management, and managing labor costs more efficiently. From the early 60’s to the 90’s finishing beef cattle in the feedlot showed immense growth, and even today the feedlot industry is constantly being upgraded with new knowledge, science, and technology. Our beef industry would have a difficult time surviving without these intensively managed yards designed to grow our nation’s beef to the point of consumer acceptance and affordability to the household.

The Gettysburg Address is the famed speech delivered by President Abraham Lincoln, the first president elected as a Republican, on November 19, 1863, at the dedication of the Soldiers’ National Cemetery in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, during the Civil War. In just 272 words, Lincoln redefined the war’s purpose, connecting it to the nation’s founding principles of liberty and equality, and urged Americans to dedicate themselves to preserving the Union and ensuring “government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth.

The Brangus Value project is a comprehensive progeny test overseen by International Brangus Breeders Association designed to follow Brangus and Ultrablack AI sired steers through the feeding and packing segments of our industry while capturing data on feed efficiency, carcass traits, and tenderness. It is the objective of our International Brangus Breeders Association to objectively determine exactly how our genetics will compete in the feeding and packing segments of our industry.
Each set of Brangus and Ultrablack steers is control tested against Angus genetics previously well documented for their ability to feed, hang, and return high end dollar values. What we know so far is that our breed sired cattle can compete, will compete, in the yard, on the rail, and do so with fewer pen pulls, death losses resulting in our cattle returning more dollars in a competitive feeding world in south central Kansas.

We already know you love Brangus cattle. Help our breed move to the next level

Selling Saturday March 21 12:00 Noon Immediately Before Bulls
F or the third year in a row, we have added more numbers in our commercial female sale due to demand from our customers for these females that connect to the genetics from our Mound Creek Ranch seedstock program. Just a few short years ago we sold our first commercial heifers during our annual bull sale, and now we will have more than 175 ready to breed or pregnant heifers. We will continue to grow the size of this marketing effort to better serve our commercial buying customers as pen-space and demand allows. This year we will be selling an excellent group of Brangus, Ultrablack, Super Baldie, and Braford F1 Heifers.
The commercial heifers selling this year are super nice, front pasture kind, deep in quality end to end, and stem from the genetic program at Mound Creek Ranch through seedstock bulls purchased in previous Mound Creek Sales or from cows carrying Mound Creek genetics. In saying this, one can expect the same high standards in genetic contributions from these commercial heifers as we strive to build into our seedstock program nationally known for producing the high-quality bulls and elite registered females we market each year.

Prior to the sale each ownership group of heifers will be tagged with sale lot numbers and presorted in uniform groups for size, color, type and kind. The cattle will then sell according to their presorted pens with the noted tag numbers and head count available prior to the sale. These pre-sorted pens will have videos available prior to the sale to include only the heifers selling within each given pen. As each set of heifers is sold from a given ownership group, the high bidder will be given, at the discretion of the sale team, the option to purchase the following pen of females if that pen is from the same ownership group of cattle.
All cattle selling in the commercial female sale are current with vaccinations and health program protocol to include Bangs, Virashield 6 VL5 HB Somnus, 8 Way Blackleg, and Cydectin Pour On.

Registration Number: Animals noted with “R” number are Registered Brangus. Those noted with a “UB” number are Ultra-Blacks, indicating they are a Brangus-Angus blend. Those noted as UB2 are second cross Ultrablacks. “AX” or “UX” recorded animals are appendix recorded cattle that have non-typical Brangus color pattern. Animals noted with “DNA” are correctly pedigreed yet waiting final validation for AI sire or possibly Donor Dams. These animals will ultimately have “R” or “UB” prefixes. Polled/Scurred/Horned: Denotes animals that are either smooth polled or have the presence of scurs or slick spots. Those noted as “scurs” typically have had scurs removed post-weaning.
Ultrasound
Ribeye Area (REA): Measured in square inches, a predictor of ribeye size. Ribeye Area/100 lb Body Weight (RE/100): Expressed in inches of ribeye per 100 lbs body weight as measured by actual ribeye divided by actual yearling weight multiplied by 100 (lbs).
Fat (FAT): Measured in inches and adjusted to 365 days.
Intramuscular Fat (IMF): Measured as a percentage and used as a predictor of genetic marbling value.
Individual Performance
Birth Weight (BW): Actual weight at birth, expressed in pounds.
Weaning Weight (AWW): Weaning weight adjusted to a constant 205 days. Takes into account differences in days of age at weaning and age of dam .
Yearling Weight (AYW): Yearling weight adjusted to a constant 365 days. Takes into account differences in days of age at yearling time, average daily gain post-weaning, and adjusted 205 weight.
Scrotal Circumference (SC): Testicular circumference, measured in centimeters, and adjusted to 365 days of age.
New EPDs/Index
Heifer Pregnancy (HP): The probability that a female will have a calf as a two year old. Expressed as a percent with the higher number more desirable. Stayability (Stay): Measures the probability that a cow will still be in the herd at six years of age, with the higher number being more desirable. Breed Back (BB): A fertility indicator trait that expresses the likelihood for a female ability to become pregnant on an annual basis, or a sire’s ability to produce daughters with the same value.
Number of Calves (NC): A fertility indicator trait that expresses the number of potential calves a female will have in her lifetime, or a sire’s ability to produce daughters with a greater likelihood to have more calves in her lifetime. Terminal Index (Term): Evaluates a sire for use on mature cows with all offspring put on feed and sold in a terminal end point scenario. No replacement females are kept in the scenario.
Expected Progeny Difference (EPD): The genetic predictor of how future progeny of each animal are expected to perform relative to the progeny of other animals listed in the breed database.
EPD Accuracy: Since all sale animals in this catalog are non-parents, their accuracies are the lowest calculated by our national sire evaluation program. Every EPD reported is either current, interim or pedigree EPD. Calving Ease Direct (CED): is expressed as a difference in percentage of unassisted births, with a higher value indicating greater calving ease in first-calf heifers. It predicts the average difference in ease with which a sire’s calves will be born when he is bred to first-calf heifers.
Birth Weight (BW): Expressed in pounds, is a predictor of an animal’s ability to transmit birth weight to progeny compared to that of other animals.
Weaning Weight EPD (WW): Expressed in pounds, is a predictor of an animal’s ability to transmit weaning growth to its progeny.
Yearling Weight EPD (YW): Expressed in pounds, is a predictor of an animal’s ability to transmit yearling growth to its progeny.
Milk EPD (Milk): Predicts an animal’s genetic merit for milk and mothering ability as expressed in daughters compared to daughters of other animals. In other words, it is that part of a calf’s weaning weight attributed to milk.
Total Maternal EPD (TM): Expressed in pounds, a genetic predictor of weaning weight by blending maternal milk and weaning weight value.
Scrotal Circumference EPD (SC): Measured in centimenters at yearling time, predicts testicular size.
Ribeye Area (REA): Expressed in square inches, is a predictor of transmitting ribeye size and overall muscle which is a key component in USDA yield grades.
Intramuscular Fat (IMF): Expressed as a percentage, is a predictor of transmitting ability for marbling or intra-muscular fat correlating to USDA quality grade at harvest time.
Percentile Ranks: The given EPD values are current to the printing of this catalog. However, an EPD is meaningless without the knowledge of where that given EPD ranks in a breed population. The PERCENTILE RANKS are offered in combination with the EPD or Index values and determine where EPD ranks in the national Brangus database from our National Genetic Evaluation. A percentile rank of 10% indicates a trait in the Top 10% of the entire nations Brangus database.
Potential Genetic Conditions
Genetic Conditions: If a genetic condition is known to exist in any sale animal or the potential of a genetic condition exists, we will make note of this in the information line for that animal. All animals in the sale have been tested, are pedigree free of any known conditions or will be noted as a potential carrier while waiting for final testing.

• Eli Whitney was widely known for his invention of the cotton gin which proved to be one of the key inventions in shaping the Industrial Revolution.
• However, Whitney was also widely recognized for his advocacy of interchangeable parts that ultimately revolutionized the manufacturing industry in the north thereby contributing massively to the Union’s Civil War victory.
• Bit of history lesson that advocates our Lot 24 we named Eli Whitney due to his vast array of interchangeable genetic “parts” that advocates calving ease, superior performance, elite milk and total maternal, off the charts blend of carcass predictors, and “do it all” levels of fertility. • During the era of Apollo space explorations there were 6 Apollo missions that landed on the moon with Apollo 11 being first in 1969 and Apollo 17 the last in 1972. These six moon landings resulted in 12 Americans that walked on the moon’s surface with Neil Armstrong taking man’s first step on the moon and Eugene Cernan taking man’s last step off the moon’s surface.
• The Apollo space program is America’s greatest engineering achievement, so we simply felt that Lot 83 should be named Moon Walk as one of Mound Creek’s greatest genetic engineering feat.
• BWCC Ms Hot Shot 10G17 was the best female born from her calving year at Blackwater.
• Several years later this donor cow has generated hundreds of thousands of dollars with over 70 progeny born to date, and many more to come.
• Moon Walk has a flawless set of EPD values, gained 3.77 lbs/day on test, and ranks as one of the great lookers in this year’s sale offer.

• MC Industry 889N3 is definitely the Stockman’s Kind and works in all phases of our beef industry.
• From his calving ease tabulation to off-the-chart performance, super carcass measures, and elite fertility indicator traits Industry really answers the needs of, well, our industry.
• His fertile dam has a current calving interval of 351 days for three calves and probably has a four on the ground as these notes are written.
• His Average Daily Gain of 4.09 lbs. per day validates his ability to add needed dollars to your future calf crops.
• Do the math. In today’s market an EXTRA 50 lbs./ calf sold translates into $175 per head OVER YOUR BASIS! Twenty calves in one year adds $3500 to your bottom line for one bull for one year. Now take that $3500 and multiply for minimum of four years and this choice has the probability of adding an EXTRA $14,000 for his use over basis.

• Betsy Ross is the lady credited with designing and making America’s first flag using the red and white bars, white five-pointed stars, and the blue background the stars lay over. This RED, WHITE, and BLUE template became known as the Betsy Ross flag and to this day the RED, WHITE, and BLUE flag stirs emotions from all patriotic Americans.
• Anyway, this huge-bodied heifer stirs our emotions, as does our American Flag.
• In 2025 we sold a maternal brother to Betsy Ross who we called Fonzie for $140,000 and then sold their super star dam for $102,500.
• Betsy Ross offers in her pedigree four of the greatest cows in breed history: the $120,000 RBM Ms Special Forces 313A; the next $1,000,000 earner at Mound Creek MC Ms Resource 129A15; the just mentioned MC Ms Slick 468E22; and the breed’s greatest Cadence daughter, Miss Brinks Cadence 468G15.

• Jackie O, unlike her namesake, is big bodied, wide made, impressive in her length of spine, and overall squareness at the corners and end to end.
• Her sire is the $60,000 choice from our 2024 Bull Sale going to Genetic Partners.
• His offspring easy tempered, wide topped, big middled, and offers the promise of making a great set of producing females in their future.
• We predict the dam of Hammer Time, MC Ms Resource 129A15, will be the next $1,000,000 income earner at Mound Creek after her fast start that included Hammer Time and the $200,000 Princess Diana.

• This outcross pedigree offers ELEVEN TRAITS in the TOP 25% and balances fertility with performance, maternal and carcass.
• We believe Armstrong (Lot 117) is one of the elite herd sire prospects we will sell in the 2026 MC Sale and this embryo sister of his should be considered a donor prospect.
• Armstrong, Yeager, Sally Ride are all sired by Powerball so therefore paternal siblings to the $140,000 MC Fonzie 468M12 AND MC Big Bopper 924L25, the 2025 “Keeper” for Mound Creek.

• That apple falls directly under this tree as her donor dam, BWR Ms Merger 111H24, measured 8.5% IMF and her granddam (and Big Lake full sister) ratioed 146% for IMF, while her great grandam measured 8.3% to ratio 161%.
