Retaining the “Keeper” Bull
Grassy Lake Cattle Company will select one bull from this sale offering to retain possession of and all breeding rights. At sale time, or soon thereafter, Grassy Lake may offer special and limited semen packages on the selected “Keeper” herd sire prospect. This selection will be announced the week of sale and noted in sale supplement information. Please contact Sale Team for any questions related to this item.
Cattle Load Out
Cattle can be loaded out during and after the sale. We ask that any pot-sized loads wait until the conclusion of the sales to load out. We will load out cattle on Saturday and ask that each buyer inform the clerks of your desire to load out on Saturday along with an approximate time of arrival. If you require a load out on another day, please inform the clerks concerning your desired date and time.
Breeding Soundness/Herd Health
Dr. Steve Schultz (979-218-8680) has done a stringent BSE on all bulls. These BSEs include an examination for physical soundness, scrotal integrity, and reproductive soundness. Also, each bull has passed a thorough evaluation for semen count, motility and quality. All bulls selling are considered as potential breeders and are guaranteed as breeding bulls through the first breeding season. If a problem should arise, please contact us and we will offer a replacement bull of equal or greater quality. If a replacement is not available when needed, a credit will be issued for our 2027 sale. All cattle have been inspected for health and fertility, are current with annual vaccinations, and come with interstate health papers. All Twos and Coming Twos have been Trich
tested.

Embryo Interest for Females
Each female will sell with 100% ownership and 100% possession rights. However, unless otherwise stated in the catalog, every female will sell with seller retaining the rights to receive one future collection of embryos via IVF protocol or conventional embryo collection methods. Please don’t hesitate to visit with Sale Team for any questions related to embryo rights.
Breeding Guarantee on Females
All females are guaranteed to be breeders through their first season. A Female is not guaranteed to be a breeder after the date of the sale when that female is used or attempted to be used in an embryo transfer program, unless by a separate agreement between the buyer and seller. Even though it is possible, some of the females have worked successfully in embryo transfer programs in the past, and should in the future. There is NO guarantee or warranty on future embryo production of any sale female.
Breeding Interest Options on Bulls
Every bull will sell with 100% possession and natural service rights going to the buyer of said bull. Several bulls will sell with a noted breeding/semen interest retained by owner of given bull(s). The retained breeding rights and semen rights will only be important if given bull is taken for semen collection. In this case the retained ownership will have the rights to their proportionate share of semen and marketing rights. Each party will pay their proportionate share of collection and marketing costs. For those bulls noted with a retained breeding/semen interest we will offer the new owner(s) an alternative option. The new owner(s) will buy 100% interest and 100% possession with the seller retaining the rights to 300 straws of semen at their costs of semen production for in-herd, commercial, or cooperator use only. If original owner of bull would like semen and the buyer prefers not to exercise collection and marketing rights, then the initial owner of bull can make arrangements for pick up (and return) of bull for semen collection at a time convenient to the new owner of bull, and when bull is not being used for natural service breeding.

e are finally here! Ready to host our Inaugural Bull and Female Sale at Grassy Lake Cattle Company. At least we sure hope so. Please accept our invitation to join all of us at Grassy Lake Sale Headquarters on October 22 and 23. We have made every effort possible to ensure your comfort and convenience while offering an efficient, well run sale, cattle displayed for ease of viewing, and food services to keep one from wanting for anything else. We have tried to dot all the I’s and cross the T’s. We were told by several friends in the seedstock business that hosting our ranch sale would be a labor of love because there are about 1000 moving parts and each one must be identified and taken care of. These moving parts include the everyday jobs of running a ranch, building a cutting edge seedstock program, genetic identification, AI, embryo transfer, breeding, calving, cattle care, bull development, making hay, records, maintenance, and the unending lists go on as each of you know. Along with everything normally related to ranching we also decided to tackle a new sale facility, sale display pens, working pens, roads, fencing, and that list goes on as well. Again, your comfort while at Grassy Lake is always at the top of our list. The Grassy Lake crew has continued to give everything in their tank to ensure the success of our program, the quality of our sale offering, and the comfort for all who attend this first-time event at Grassy Lake. It’s All Important Every Trait Is Important We heard a conversation recently between seedstock producers and one stated their program did not place emphasis on carcass merit indicators since their bull buyers rarely asked about those traits. Another chimed in and suggested their prime emphasis was strictly calving ease since their bull buyers seemed to only consider that trait as important, and the conversation went on. At Grassy Lake you will get the BEST of trait selection across the board as we strongly believe it is our responsibility and dedication to provide all traits important to our industry. Even if a bull buyer may not place emphasis on a given set of traits, somewhere in the scope of our industry those traits become highly important, and in fact, critically important. Calves will be born, cattle will be weaned, feedlots demand efficient and profitable gain, cattle will be sent to harvest, and consumers will ultimately be our judge and jury. At EVERY stage of this chain, those genetics we build in a seedstock program become critical to the next one downstream. Yes, there will be certain traits deemed unimportant to producers, but this doesn’t mean those traits are unimportant to our industry. From fertility, to hoof and leg soundess, udder quality, optimum milk value, libido in the pasture, fleshing ability, temperament, and the list goes on! Somewhere any and all of these traits become important and these are going to also be important at Grassy Lake! Each of these traits are vital to the welfare of the beef industry and we will address at Grassy Lake. Genomically Enhanced EPD Values We have embraced DNA technology and its impact in the beef industry from providing accurate ancestry information to utilizing DNA technology in providing Genomically Enhanced EPD Values (GE-EPD). We see an incredible demand for DNA technology starting with the seedstock provider now reaching all the way to the packing side of our industry. It’s here, here to stay, and will be instrumental in making more profitable seedstock cattle therefore creating more value for the customers of our genetic program. Closely study genomically enhanced EPD (GE-EPD) ranks, and place high emphasis on this information! Don’t hesitate to ask for assistance or recommendations from our team. Currently, 88% of the sale cattle are listed with so-noted GE-EPD panels in the proper space in this catalog. By sale week we project 136 of 140 sale cattle will be pedigree verified and have Genomically Enhanced EPD values available. Our GE-EPD values are impressive with balanced traits and highly desired spread across antagonistic values. These four values are the best fertility indicator traits in our breed’s EPD arsenal, and with these values seedstock breeders can be more dedicated and comfortable with selection for fertility, the most economically important trait in the cattle business! Stockbulls purchased by any cow/calf producer using these highly effective and economically driven traits will become the driving force in profitability for any program in the ranching business. These four fertility indicator traits are calculated values from the entire breed’s national database and can be used to make genetic improvement in a herd’s ability to get pregnant, remain in the herd over a long lifetime, breed back annually, raise more total calves in a cow’s lifetime, and therefore wean more total pounds of calf. Fertility is the MOST economically important trait in the cattle business. More total calves and more total pounds equal more total dollars! The National Cattle Inventory Report The July 2026 National Cattle Inventory provided an excellent outlook for those in the cow/calf segment of our beef industry. There are 38.1 million total cows and heifers that have calved in the United States which is identical from the 2025 inventory report. The United States calf crop is estimated to be down 2% from last year and cattle on feed as of September 2026 was 1% above 2025 levels for same reporting period! Herd expansion is very slow to recover and economic projections for the cow/calf producer remain highly optimistic for the next several years.

It’s All Important “What’s a Good Bull Worth” From Dr. Mark Johnson, Respected Extension Beef Specialist, Oklahoma State University Dr. Johnson describes a good bull as one with registration papers, quality pedigree information, genetic values to include genomically enhanced EPDs (GE-EPDs), passed a Breeding Soundness Examination and sells with breeding warranty, and a bull that will add value to calves sired due to genetic merit and said bull(s) fit individual program breeding objectives and marketing plans. Using market reports released by USDA based on the overall national average for the week ending September 18, 2026 and using Dr. Johnson’s formula: •
550 lb. weaned steer calves are worth about $426.00/lb. for a value of $2343/head. If my future marketing plan is to sell weaned steers, $2343 x 5 = $11,715 is the answer.

750 lb. yearling steers are worth about $3.48/lb. for a value of about $2610/head. If my future marketing plan is to sell yearling steers, $2610 x 5 = $13,050 is the answer.

1500 lb. finished steers are worth $2.26/lb. for a value of $3390/head. If my future marketing plan is to retain ownership selling on live weight basis, $3390 x 5 = $16,950 is the answer.
So, in this current market a good bull is worth somewhere between $12,000 and $17,000 to a commercial cow/calf operation. One key point illustrated here is that the longer you own the offspring before marketing, the greater the value of the bull to your operation. A Few Quick Points *Our sale bulls have been raised in a belly deep forage environment, tested from weaning to yearling time on haylage or silage, and continued their post yearling development period to sale time on silage and grazing forage. *Every bull in the sale offering has passed a strict BSE that included a reproductive physical evaluation and extension, an actual semen sample collection, and evaluation for motility and morphology of sample. The Fall Yearlings were sampled the same as the Coming Twos and the Two-Year Olds. *Percentile Ranks associated with GE-EPD values are the most important component of the database in this catalog. Trust these values as they offer the best comparison when ranking genetic value for individual animals across the entire Brangus breed! These genetic ranks, and their associated GE-EPD values, are more accurate and reliable due to their enhancement using known DNA genetic markers. *Considering Calving Ease Direct 42% of the cattle in this sale rank in the best 35% for the entire national Brangus population, 57% of the sale cattle have an actual birthweight of 75 lbs. or less, and over 71% have an actual birthweight of 79 lbs. or less. *Our industry sells cattle by the pound and these pounds are valuable! The Brangus Value project is a comprehensive progeny test overseen by International Brangus Breeders Association designed to follow Brangus and Ultrablack AI sired steers through the feeding and packing segments of our industry while capturing data on feed efficiency, carcass traits, and tenderness. xcept for those stated in the below terms and conditions, there are no warranties, either expressed or implied, as to the merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose with respect to the cattle being sold at this auction. The warranties and guarantees set forth in the “Terms & Conditions” are in lieu of all other warranties, either expressed or implied, and the remedies provided therein shall be the sole and exclusive remedy of the buyer, or any party through buyer, for any breach of warranty or guarantee therein provided, and all other obligations or liabilities. 1. BIDDING: Each animal will be sold to the highest bidder. The auctioneer in charge will settle any disputes as to bids, and his decision shall be final. 2. TERMS: All terms are cash or check. Settlement must be made to the clerk at the conclusion of the auction. 3. PURCHASER’S RISK: Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon as sold, but will not be delivered until settlement has been made. 4. CERTIFICATE OF REGISTRY: When full settlement has been made, a certificate of registration will be furnished and transferred to the purchaser on those lots that are registered. Give full name and address to the clerk when making payment so the Certificate of Registry will be transferred properly. 5. HEALTH: All animals where possession is sold are eligible for interstate shipment except as otherwise noted. The cattle have been tested for Tuberculosis and Bangs disease within thirty (30) days of the sale date or come from a Brucellosis Certified Free Herd or come from a Brucelosis Certified Free Herd or originate from a Certified Tuberculosis or Bangs free state.. A health certificate will be furnished. 6. ANNOUNCEMENTS: Announcements from the auction box will take precedence over the printed matter in this catalog. All cattle will be sold by lot numbers as announced by the auctioneer. 7. BREEDING GUARANTEE: (A) All animals are guaranteed to be breeders with the exception of (1) injury or disease occurring after sale; (2) negligence or willful misconduct on the part of the purchaser. (B) Any bull which either (1) produces viable semen; (2) settles 1/3 or more of the healthy cows he serves; (3) is the sire of 20 or more animals or; (4) settles cows by natural service and passes a fertility test made by a competent veterinarian during any 6 month trial period, shall be considered a breeder. 7. DONORS: (A) A Female is NOT guaranteed to be a breeder after the date of the sale when that female is used or attempted to be used in an embryo transfer program, unless by a separate agreement between the buyer and seller. (B) Even though it is possible some of the females have worked successfully in embryo transfer programs in the past, and should in the future, there is NO guarantee of warranty on future embryo production of any sale female. 8. LIABILITIES: All persons who attend the sale do so at their own risk. Cattle Brokers, Inc. has been employed by the consignor(s) of the animals being sold solely for the purpose of advertising and conducting the subject sale. All information regarding the subject animals as published in sales brochures and as announced at the sale is based on the representations made to Cattle Brokers, Inc. by the consignor(s). Cattle Brokers, Inc. has not made any independent investigation to verify and Cattle Brokers, Inc. assumes no liability, either legal or equitable, for failure of title, health registration and lien status of the subject animals; and Cattle Brokers, Inc. makes no representations, either expressed or implied, as to whether or not the subject animals are security under any lien, either legal or equitable. 9. PRIVATE BIDS: Phone bids may be furnished in confidential form to Cattle Brokers, Inc. at (979) 255-4357. 10. OPTIONS AND PRIVILEGES OF RETURN OR ADJUSTMENT: (A) All claims for adjustment must be made in writing within six (6) months of the sale date. (B) Any animal that has not proven itself a breeder within the time limits specified above, if in healthy condition, may be returned to seller at buyer’s expense. The seller reserves the right and privilege of trying for a period of six (6) months to prove the animal a breeder. If proven a breeder, the animal will be returned at buyer’s expense. Should the animal fail to breed, the seller will provide a replacement of the animal with another of equal or greater quality. If a replacement animal is not available when needed, a credit will be issued toward your next purchase. (C) Any animal returned must have a veterinarian’s certificate that it is healthy and free of Bangs and Tuberculosis. (D) Seller does not guarantee death loss or injury. Page 56
