BREEDING GUARANTEE:
We believe all bulls to be fertile and have all passed a Breeding Soundness Exam 30 days prior to the sale. All bulls sell with a first breeding season guarantee. Breeding season is defined as 90 days after the first day the bull is exposed to cows. If any injury should occur, the buyer must notify Meyer Cattle prior to culling the injured bull. Meyer Cattle will replace the bull with a bull of equal value or credit for the purchase price minus salvage value.

A Meyer Cattle Beef dinner will be available on sale day beginning at 5:00 p.m.
EPDS:
All EPDs are provided by the American Angus Association and are current at printing of the sale book. Many of the bulls have been i50K Tested. We believe this gives you a more accurate indicator of your animals potential which will allow you to make continuous progress on your herd.

All animals selling will be penned at the sale facility. The auction will be conducted inside the sale barn at Meyer Cattle Company. A video of each sale animal will be played on large screen displays as the respective animal sells. Cattle will not come into the sale ring. Please arrive early to view the sale offering.

Welcome to the sixth annual “Performance in the Pasture� Bull Sale. We are pleased to offer you the largest and deepest set of bulls to date. I believe we have an offering for your apprasial that are sound and functional that will work in many different environments. We are excited for the opportunity to help you make your herd sire decision, as we understand it is a very important decision for your herd and its profitability. When you purchase a bull from Meyer Cattle, you are not just buying a bull; rather, you are buying into a program that stands behind what we sell because we believe in it. We understand there are many bull sales across the country; however, when you buy from Meyer Cattle, you are investing in a program that sees every facet of the industry-- from the calving of the cows, to the backgrounding, to the feedlot. The bulls offered can help you accomplish your goals and we can help you make that purchasing decision. We have a quality set of bulls available for the commercial and purebred cattleman that will work well in many conditions allowing you to optimize your feed, land, and labor. To better help you make good buying decisions, some of the bulls have been i50K tested. This technology is the most accurate offered giving you confidence and accuracy as you make your sire selections. This test is an early determination of what a bull is likely to transmit to its offspring- the potential for performance, calving ease, growth, and carcass traits. There are 22 Show-Me Select qualified, calving ease bulls available in the offering; however, they do not sacrifice growth. New for this year is a group of commercial spring pairs. The pairs offered are non-registered but stem from proven, documented Angus genetics and would be a great addition to any herd. Our operation has grown. The only way we can get many of the daily chores completed is with the help of my Dad; Robbie Meyer, James Morris, Gregg Billybob Zurliene, Brian Buchmeier, and Luke Cannon. All of our herd health is oversaw by our Veterinarian and friend, Dr. David Hudson of Canton Veterinary Clinic. We are very fortunate to have these friends that believe in our cattle and our operation like we do.

What’s in the numbers? EXPECTED PROGENY DIFFERENCE (EPD) , is the prediction of how future progeny of each animal are expected to perform relative to the progeny of other animals listed in the database. EPDs are expressed in units of measure for the trait, plus or minus. $VALUE INDEXES, are multi-trait selection indexes, expressed in dollars per head, to assist beef producers by adding simplicity to genetic selection decisions. The $Value is an estimate of how future progeny of each sire are expected to perform, on average, compared to progeny of other sires in the database if the sires were randomly mated to cows and if calves were exposed to the same environment. ACCURACY (ACC), is the reliability that can be placed on the EPD. An accuracy of close to 1.0 indicates higher reliability. Accuracy is impacted by the number of progeny and ancestral records included in the analysis.
PRODUCTION EPDS: CALVING EASE DIRECT (CED), is expressed as a difference in percentage of unassisted births, with a higher value indicating greater calving ease in first-calf heifers. It predicts the average difference in ease with which a sire’s calves will be born when he is bred to first-calf heifers. BIRTH WEIGHT EPD (BW), expressed in pounds, is a predictor of a sire’s ability to transmit birth weight to his progeny compared to that of other sires. WEANING WEIGHT EPD (WW), expressed in pounds, is a predictor of a sire’s ability to transmit weaning growth to his progeny compared to that of other sires. YEARLING WEIGHT EPD (YW), expressed in pounds, is a predictor of a sire’s ability to transmit yearling growth to his progeny compared to that of other sires. CALVING EASE MATERNAL (CEM), is expressed as a difference in percentage of unassisted births with a higher value indicating greater calving ease in first-calf daughters. It predicts the average ease with which a sire’s daughters will calve as first-calf heifers when compared to daughters of other sires. MATERNAL MILK EPD (MILK), is a predictor of a sire’s genetic merit for milk and mothering ability as expressed in his daughters compared to daughters of other sires. In other words, it is that part of a calf’s weaning weight attributed to milk and mothering ability. MARBLING EPD (MARB), expressed as a fraction of the difference in USDA marbling score of a sire’s progeny compared to progeny of other sires. FEEDLOT VALUE ($F), an index value expressed in dollars per head, is the expected average difference in future progeny performance for postweaning merit compared to progeny of other sires.
