THE GLOBALTERRA

San Antonio de Barranca, Costa Rica

$9,000,000

859± Acres

INTRODUCTION

Welcome to GlobalTerra, an agro-productive estate located in the hub of Costa Rica. This rare, large parcel landholding is made up of four contiguous properties totaling 859± acres (348± hectares). It is located in San Antonio de Barranca, a strategic area between San Ramón, Naranjo, and Zarcero — just 50± minutes from Juan Santamaría International Airport.

Initially, the property was carefully crafted by agricultural professionals and local personalities into a historic coffee estate with high-functioning infrastructure to support the land and operations. Today, it operates in two agricultural sectors: beef and avocados. With over 370 acres (150 hectares) of year-round rotational grazing for cattle, the ranch is well-suited for premium weight gain. The fencing, roadways, and handling facility provide a well-organized system for running feeder calves or a cow-calf operation.

Approximately 28,100 avocado trees have been planted on an additional 247 acres (100 hectares). This operation has been under the careful supervision of avocado professionals from around the world to curate long-term and sustainable avocado production for local markets. Additionally, multiple crops and gardens are rotationally planted to help the farm capitalize on seasonal opportunities for cash flow.

The property also offers the sought-after Costa Rican recreational lifestyle. Whether riding a horse across the epic landscapes or navigating waterways on a UTV trek, this property will provide adventure at every turn.

The land asset and project, GlobalTerra, was born with a clear vision: to develop a multifunctional estate that combines regenerative agriculture, sustainable livestock, natural water resources, and areas of high ecological and scenic value. All of this is framed within a long-term productive vision, with the potential to integrate modern rural communities, ecotourism, and wellness initiatives. Join GlobalTerra: green business, green future!

AREA HISTORY

San Ramón, Costa Rica, in the western Central Valley (Alajuela Province), developed in the 19th century as settlers expanded inland agriculture and established rural communities; it was formally founded in 1844 and later became a canton in 1854. The town grew around farming, especially coffee cultivation, which shaped its economy and social life, and linked it to regional trade routes. Over time, San Ramón became known for strong civic institutions, schools, and a tradition of producing educators, writers, and public figures, earning it the nickname “Ciudad de los Poetas” (City of Poets). In recent decades, it has served as an important commercial and service center for surrounding districts, while retaining its smalltown character and agricultural roots.

GlobalTerra’s history includes the acquisition of four fincas/farms strategically placed together to create a coffee estate. The coffee finca was exceptionally developed and grew into a known coffee resource. Eventually, troubling coffee economics drove the farm to change directions. Today, it raises cattle, cash crops, and avocados. Approximately seven hectares have been strategically acquired due to the premium location along the public road, allowing for the future development of street-frontage produce sales directly attached to the farm. Today, it continues to support current agri-business operations, while the development of coffee, chocolate, and eco-tourism could promote the asset into the future.

NEARBY ATTRACTIONS & ACTIVITIES

The property sits near the agricultural towns of San Ramon, Naranjo, and Zarcero. These towns offer a vibrant community, featuring great food, bars, and a variety of community events.

Nearby is the Los Angeles Cloud Forest Reserve, ideal for hiking, and the San Luis Adventure Park. Famous parks like Arenal Volcano and Monteverde Cloud Forest are also within easy day-trip distance.
