LITTLE SALMON RIVER LODGE
New Meadows, Idaho $1,550,000 47.69± Acres
INTRODUCTION Step out onto the porch, and the world quiets. Before you, the land falls away in layers of towering pines standing sentinel, ridgelines rolling toward distant peaks, and far below, the Little Salmon River carving its patient path through the valley. The air is different here: cool, clean, scented with cedar and possibility. This is not simply a view. It is an invitation. Beautiful timber beams, stone, and walls of glass frame the wilderness beyond, creating a residence that feels equally at home hosting a quiet family retreat or an elegant gathering of friends. Every window, every porch board, every carefully placed stone was set with this panorama in mind. Yet for all its seclusion, convenience is never far. Just 40± minutes down the road lies McCall, Idaho, a charming alpine town of lakeside cafés, boutique shopping, and small-town warmth, along with Brundage Mountain Ski Resort, offering world-class powder just a short drive from your front door. For those who crave the wild, this land delivers. Situated within Game Management Area 23, the back door opens directly onto some of Idaho’s most storied hunting and fishing grounds. Elk bugle in the fall canyons. Steelhead and trout run the river below. Whether it’s a quiet morning cast into the Little Salmon or a hunt through backcountry ridgelines, adventure is just outside. More than a residence, this is a legacy property: acreage where timber, land, and lodge come together in rare harmony. A place where mountains meet memory, relaxation meets recreation, where the noise of the world fades.

The Little Salmon River Lodge lies within one of North America’s richest and most diverse wildlife regions, an expansive, undeveloped landscape spanning multiple ecosystems. Nearly every species native to the northern Rockies thrives here: elk, mule deer, whitetail deer, bighorn sheep, mountain goats, black bears, wolves, and mountain lions. Few private properties in the West offer wildlife diversity and nearby hunting access of this caliber, set against a backdrop of true, unbroken wilderness. www.fayranches.com | 800.238.8616 | info@fayranches.com
FISHING Fishing in the valley is world-class year-round. Spring and fall bring outstanding steelhead runs on the Salmon River, drawing anglers from across the country in pursuit of these prized migratory fish. Summer offers excellent smallmouth bass fishing on the main river, while the numerous coldwater tributaries hold native cutthroat trout in pristine, untouched waters. Whether casting for trophy steelhead or working a quiet mountain stream for native cutthroat, you will experience an extraordinary range of fishing experiences within reach of the front door.

Here, adventure isn’t scheduled; it’s simply how the days unfold. Carve fresh powder at Brundage or Tamarack, then unwind with an evening wine tasting in McCall. Launch a kayak or raft on the Salmon’s whitewater, relax in hidden hot springs, or saddle up the UTV for miles of backcountry trail. Hike wilderness few ever see, pitch a tent beneath open sky, or fly into one of Idaho’s legendary backcountry airstrips for a true frontier arrival. Boating, camping, flying, riding; it’s all within reach. This isn’t a vacation. It’s simply life, lived outdoors, every single day. 13
AREA HISTORY Long before roads reached the canyon, Nez Perce bands hunted, fished, and gathered along these rivers for generations. Prospectors arrived for gold in the 1860s, and the mining camps that sprang up along the Salmon River were as rough as advertised. Riggins was first known as “Gouge Eye,” a name earned when two miners, Homer Levander and Big Markham, settled an argument over a woman named Daisy Trumbull with their fists, and Markham’s eye came out on the losing end. The name stuck for decades until the town was renamed for its first mailman, John Riggins, in 1901. Timber and cattle carried the region through the century that followed, with sawmills and cattle drives shaping the small mountain towns along the river. When the timber industry slowed in the 1980s, recreation took its place, and today that same frontier spirit lives on in wild rivers, deep forests, and a canyon that hasn’t lost its edge.
