SEEKING Dear Members – With Fall upon us we are most certainly looking forward to the cooler days and chilly nights, yet remain hopeful that we will have a long and warm Indian Summer ahead of us. With the leaves starting their annual ritual of turning color, the views on our quaint and park-like golf course will surely make for a scenic round of golf! With the anticipated cooler weather and the perfect growing conditions, we expect the conditioning on the course to continue to improve over the next couple of months, before we have to start and winterize the course for its winter hibernation. During this Fall season you will continue to see us working on the numerous and exciting renovation projects out on the course in anticipation of our bunker renovation program next spring.
Board Members
The RG&CC Board of Directors is looking for candidates to join the Board in March 2017. Terms run for three years. Members who are interested should submit their notice of interest to Amy Labanowski, RG&CC Vice President, by November 26th. The Board is looking for individuals who have an interest in and passion for our Club. While not required, a candidate who is presently or has previously served on a Club committee would be ideal. If you believe you have sound business acumen, a desire to work with a dedicated team and are enthusiastic about our community, please contact us!
While the Pool & Beach season is behind us, kayak rentals will still be available through the Columbus Day weekend. Fall is also the kick-off of our Paddle Tennis season and we look forward to yet another vibrant and memorable paddle season at the Club. With three active courts, accessibility should not be a problem and please stay tuned for some additional offerings in the Paddle Hut! Last but certainly not least, the Lakeside Grille & Bar continues to be the perfect spot for members, friends and family to come in and celebrate love, friendship and the camaraderie of fellow members. We’re looking forward to our Oktoberfest specials on Thursday evenings in October, our upcoming Beer Dinner and the continuing Wine Dinner series, to name just a few.

Dear Members, I am very excited to have joined your growing team of professionals as the Club’s new Membership & Marketing Coordinator. I would like to take this opportunity to give you some insight on my background. I was raised and educated in central Europe and earned my Masters Degree in Education and Civics from Comenious University in Bratislava, Slovakia. I have worked in the hospitality industry for most of my life, including multiple restaurants in Europe, a rustic resort in New England and Ridgewood Country Club in Paramus, New Jersey. Most recently, I worked for an executive search firm in New York which specializes in the hospitality industry. --Fall is officially in the air and golf is in full swing! Crisp air, colorful leaves, hot coffee and a round of golf sounds like the perfect way to swing into the autumn season. Not a golfer? Join our competitive paddle tennis league for an opportunity to remain social throughout the winter months, engage in friendly competition and stay active! I look forward to meeting many of you in the upcoming months as we continue to provide you with the excellent membership experience that you’ve become accustomed to. Richard and Sara Noonan live in Ridgewood, New Jersey with their 18-month old daughter Charlotte. Being somewhat new to Bergen County, the Noonan’s were looking for opportunities to meet other young families in the area. Upon touring Ramsey Golf & Country Club, they were impressed with the relaxed family-friendly atmosphere. They look forward to participating in both family and adult-focused events and are looking forward to another terrific summer season with weekends spent at the pool with Charlotte.

Platform Tennis, or “Paddle” as it is commonly referred to is an American racquet sport primarily played outdoors in cold weather which provides a unique opportunity to enjoy fresh air, competition and social engagement during the winter months. Ramsey Golf & Country Club’s 2016-2017 Paddle Tennis season has begun! Enrollment forms have been mailed to each of you. Be sure to review the rules and regulations, located on the member website, and submit your registration documents no later than Tuesday, November 1st for discounted rates. Situated directly behind our lively bar, and accommodating up to 50 guests, this glass enclosed space is bright, eclectic and boasting with color. Summer is officially over, but that doesn’t mean you have to stop playing or working on your golf swing. Fall is a great time of year to play golf! It’s also still a good time to work on your game. Finish your golf season with some good swing habits. Take advantage of the beautiful cooler days and see one of us for a lesson. Whether it’s your short game, full swing, bunkers or putting, there is no time like the present to make a few adjustments and lower your scores. We are available six days a week and I’m sure we can find a time to work with you which fits your schedule. Let us put a plan together for the fall and winter so you can hit the ground running in the spring.
Juniors, don’t put your clubs away just because school has started. We are available after school and on the weekends. Either put together a small group of your own or see us individually. I’m sure we can help you continue to improve your game! Just a reminder, we will be offering instructions on our Opti-Shot simulator right here in the Golf Shop all winter long! Come see the teaching studio we setup after the New Year. It’s the best way to maintain any progress you made on your game during the season or just to get a jump start on the upcoming golf season. Once again, like most other activities, you get out what you put in. Spend time with me, or one of my Assistants and I’m sure you will see results.
Pioneer Tour Champion Kaylie Voigt The Pioneer Tour is a junior golf program which brings instruction and competition to over 800 young golfers ages 8 to 18. This award winning program introduces the youth of Bergen County to the enjoyment and challenges of the sport of golf emphasizing the honor, etiquette and traditions of the game. Congratulations to RG&CC’s very own Kaylie Voigt, on not only qualifying for the Pioneer Junior Golf Tour Championship, but for placing first in her age bracket against many other Bergen County residents with a score of 89 and an eagle in the final round! The Tour Championship was held at Forest Hill Field Club, in Bloomfield, NJ on Monday, August 22nd. Congratulations Kaylie on such a monumental accomplishment!

Championship Day Sunday, August 23, 1981 Ramsey country club holds championship day Sunday, August 23 was a day for champions at the Ramsey Golf and Country Club. There was a record breaking turnout which supported 48 of the finest golfers competing for top honors at the RG&CC. There were four major tournaments including the Ladies 9-hole division, the Ladies 18hole division, the Men’s Tournament division and the Men’s Club Champion Group. The excitement started at 7 a.m. with the raising of the yellow and white tent along with 30-ft. antennas for our radio coverage-control center and leader board information. This was followed by closed circuit T.V. coverage of both the Ladies and Men's Tournament Groups off the 1st tee. Our Champions for the 1981-1982 Season include many members/family members who are still with the Club today including Jae Benzoni, Barbara Stuis, Irene Bush, Mimi Christie, Walt Keady, Tim Driscoll, Sr., Bill Callanan, Don Wittmann and Tim Driscoll, Jr.. Committee members include Dick Guba, Al Tannachion, Don Greaf, Charles Tackney, Al Hayes & Son, Chet Heinz, Ken Landauer & Bob, Walter Keady, John Janek, Ted Brockmier, Al Thayer, Phil Williams, Vi Fournier, Sophia Bojan, Kathy O’Brien. A total of 162 attended the Steamship Roast Dinner Dance with many more joining us for the Awards Presentations. Following the awards, many continued to enjoy the music and dancing. However, many more were interested in watching the color TV replays with all the action taken that day. Frank Benzoni, Chairman of Championship Day stated that it was a day that will be long remembered, not only for the great golf blue skies and festivities, but more, for the participation and support as shown by the “people”, the members, guests and friends of the Ramsey Golf & Country Club. Thank you to all of the above for a “most successful day”.

Dear Golfers, Hope everyone is ready for some fall golf! While we certainly don’t want the blistering cold weather to arrive any time soon, we are excited about the warm days and much cooler nights, giving us the perfect growing conditions out on the course. While we have not fared unscathed through this brutal summer that we’ve had, with growing weather upon us, we are refocused on nursing to health some of our problem areas on the course– and the prognosis is looking very good. Albeit more hardships we are facing, with one of our irrigation pumps having failed and thereby only being able to water the course at 50% capacity, we are doing everything in our power to mitigate the adverse conditions as best as possible. A replacement pump has been ordered and once on site we’ll be able to water again at 100% capacity. We are planning on aerating the fairways, tees and approaches after Columbus Day weekend and the renovation pre-work that we have started is well underway! Lastly, your groundskeepers are asking for your assistance in helping us maintain our course to its best possible conditions and as such, please don't forget to kindly fix ball marks on the greens, fill in divots and in respecting the various cart signs out on the course. We thank you for your cooperation and look forward to seeing you out on the course in the months to come!

It’s hard to believe another summer season has come and gone! Considering the terrific weather (for the most part), I hope you took advantage of the various social activities implemented over the last few months. Given the tremendous response our first Sounds of Summer event culminated, a sold out Tequila Dinner on the Beach, and beautiful weather for what was supposed to be a washed out Labor Day, I think it is safe to say you all enjoyed yourselves! Now, as we put away our swim suits and break out our sweaters and snow boots, I hope you are all as excited as I am to fall into my favorite time of year; The Holidays! This season, we’re going out with the old and coming in with the new, but don’t worry, we made sure to hold onto all of your favorites! With a combination of children’s parades, cookie decorating, and puppet shows, mixed with our Second Annual Adult Holiday Party and a newly devised Family Brunch with Santa, we are sure the entire family will be in the spirit come December!
