club closed In traditional fashion, the Club will be closed January 1st through to Wednesday, January 18th. Be sure to join us on Thursday, January 19th for our official grand reopening in the Lakeside Grille & Bar, including a live musical performance by Dan Avery beginning at 7:00pm! For your convenience during this shutdown period, the Administrative Offices will be open Monday through Friday between the hours of 9:00am3:00pm. Be sure to call us with any questions during this time.
Three new Board Members will be elected to fill the positions of outgoing Board Members at the Annual Shareholder’s Meeting. This year, the Annual Shareholders' Meeting is scheduled for Saturday, March 25th at 12 noon in the Grand Ballroom. Stockholders should take note of this very important date and are encouraged to attend the meeting. Additional information, as well as ballots will be mailed to each stockholder within the upcoming months. In addition, please stay tuned for a special shareholders meeting preceding our scheduled March meeting. Information pertaining
to a selected date and time will be sent to each shareholder in the coming weeks.

tradition The Christmas Eve tradition to light thousands of luminaries along the roads throughout Ramsey Golf and Country Club, came to us close to 45 years ago when the Bacon family on Ronald Court lit luminaries at their home. This was such a hit with their neighbors that the following year their neighbors put luminaries in front of their homes. After that year, the entire Club followed suit with Midge Kennedy of Lakeside Drive organizing the display. When Midge moved to Hilton Head in 1996, this annual project was taken over by Patricia Mitschang and Patricia McKeon, with the help and support of their husbands, George Mitschang and John McKeon. It takes close to 50 Street Captains to distribute candles and bags to each of the over 500 families who live within the Club’s grounds. At 5:30pm, on December 24th, members in every home light seven candles across the front of their yard. When complete, thousands of candles light the way along every street within the Club and around the lake. It is truly a sight to behold and this years display was no different. Since 1996, Pat McKeon and Pat Mitschang have volunteered their time and services in order to keep the luminary tradition alive at the Club. After 20 years, it is now time for them to pass the torch. On behalf of the entire Ramsey Golf & Country Club community, we would like to take this opportunity to thank these two wonderful ladies for their years of dedication, patience, and commitment to this long-standing Club tradition.
ith another year over and a new one just begun, we wish a fond farewell to 2016 and eagerly welcome 2017. We hope that you and your loved ones had a happy and safe holiday season and we wish you all a very healthy, happy and prosperous New Year! While we wrapped up 2016 in grand style at the Club, with busy nights in the Lakeside Grille & Bar, a sold out Moet et Chandon Champagne Dinner and our best yet, swanky NYE bash in the Ballroom, we are eagerly waiting and planning for the promises of 2017! With the clubhouse closed for the first 3-weeks in January, there is no rest for the weary. We will be deep cleaning, painting and refurbishing all fixtures and areas so as to be ready for our grand re-opening on Thursday, January 19, 2017. As you return to the clubhouse, we hope that you will notice and enjoy some of the changes that we will be making, such as a new carpet in the Lakeside Grille, new menu covers and menu formats with even more delicious culinary treats, to name just a few. In addition, we will be working hard to completely overhaul our Lakeside Grille Wine List with an anticipated roll-out date of April 1, 2017. During the first quarter of the year, we will continue with our ever popular Wine Dinner Series and many fun and exciting events to help us all beat the “cabin fever”! So please stay tuned for our Mary’s Basement return event in the Ballroom on Friday, January 20th, a Comedy Nite in February, of course our annual Valentine’s Day romance extravaganza, as well as the traditional Irish festivities during the month of March. All around the Club, we will continue to plan and work on many new initiatives, amongst which are our golf course bunker renovations, to ensure that our 2017 season will be the best one yet! Meet the Steines
Liesel, Patrick, Anna (8), Alicia (4) and Trot (their Boston Terrier) are thrilled to join Ramsey Golf & Country Club having just moved from Mahwah. RG&CC is very special to them as Liesel grew up on Oxford Court (her parents, Tom and Nida McDonnell, still reside there) and the Club was the site of their wedding reception in August 2004. They were drawn to the Club for its family-friendly, small community feel. Now that they are settled in, they feel even more excited about their decision to move here - their neighbors have been so warm and welcoming, and their girls have met many new friends in a short period of time! They look forward to becoming acquainted with new friends and participating in the events and activities that Club life has to offer.

The Feeneys
Jim and Susan Feeney have lived in the Club for the last 34 years and it has truly been a special place for their family. They have met the friends of a lifetime whom are still a part of their family today. Through the years, they have celebrated many holidays including Easter, Christmas, and New Year’s Eve, as well as both Bridal and Baby Showers at the Club. Their three children who grew up here were involved in both golf and swim teams and the Club is still special to them today. Jim has been a three time Club Champion and Sue a Ladies 9-Hole Champ. They say there is no place like the Ramsey Golf & Country Club.
For the last 27 years, Joel, Susie, Ben and Ellen Goldberg have enjoyed their time in the Club. Through the years, they have made wonderful friendships and have many fond memories with more in the making each and every day. In addition, they have two Club Golf Champs in their family, Joel was the Club Champ in 2010 and Ellen was the Junior Girls Club Champ in 2007.
Aurelius & Jonathan Licata are both thankful to the Club community of which they have enjoyed so many memorable experiences. In addition, Aurelius is honored to have had the opportunity to have been a past Club President and past member of the House Committee.
Bruce, Laura, Brian and Kelsey Heitman have been members of RGCC for 27 years. They moved into their home on Canterbury Drive from Chicago in October of 1989. This was years before the golf course was expanded. They have many fond memories of their time here at the Club. Brian shot a hole-in-one when he was about 12 years old. The kids used to sell lemonade and golf balls behind their house at the 6 hole & 9 tee. The golf balls would be in egg cartons, sold by the dozen. The Club was a wonderful place for the kids to grow up. They both swam for the club swim team and played Junior Golf. Brian even went on to swim at Ramsey High School and became Captain of his college swim team. Kelsey was featured in a picture The Record published about the Club. The Heitmans have met many wonderful people and even convinced Bruce's parents to buy a home on Lakeside Drive where they lived for a while.

It is hard to believe another busy year here at the Club has come and gone. In fact, busy is truly an understatement as this may have been one of our best years yet with more lavish weddings and cheerful holiday parties booked than ever before. Business remains steady throughout the snowy winter months, but even so, we are using this “quiet� time to work on some minor projects and renovations in order to ensure both the Grand Ballroom and Abbey are ready to go by spring.

Partake in these Irish Classics with friends and family while enjoying the Irish themed atmosphere and live band in our Lakeside Grille! chocolate fallen The holidays may be behind us, but there is always room for a little dessert, no matter the season! Our homemade rich chocolate fallen cake is one of our favorites, and we know it’s also one of yours! Make it yourself and enjoy this specialty dessert whenever your tummy desires!
Ingredients (Serves 6)
9 oz dark chocolate 1 cup butter 6 eggs, separated 1 1/2 cup sugar 1 muffin tray 3 medium strawberries Raspberry Sauce Whip Cream
Directions 1. Preheat oven to 350 F 2. Chop chocolate and melt with butter 3. Beat egg yolks and sugar until pale 4. Combine egg mixture and chocolate 5. Whisk egg whites into stiff peaks 6. Fold into chocolate mixture 7. Pour batter into muffin tray 8. Bake for 18-20 minutes 9. Top with strawberries, whip cream and raspberry sauce

As they say, new years call for new beginnings, and with that comes warm memories and unprecedented family traditions. We promise, judging by what we have in store for you, 2017 will be no different! We are happy to announce our social calendar is packed full of events the entire family can enjoy! While many of our long standing traditions including Family Movie Night and Irish Family Day remain, we are excited to introduce several additions to our lineup including Dining Etiquette and Knife Skills 101, both with our very own Chef Jim! Lastly, trust us when we say, you won’t want to miss our kickoff event of the year, Mary’s Basement, performing live in our Grand Ballroom this January! As a friendly reminder, each of our member events are created exclusively by us for your enjoyment; however, these events can not run without your involvement and participation. follow us After three weeks of hibernation, we invite you to join us for a grand re-opening bash featuring Mary’s Basement! The night will kickoff in the Grand Ballroom at 8:00pm with a live musical performance by Pat Prebor, a favorite among our membership. Once Pat gets the crowd going, Mary’s Basement will take over the night, playing your favorite covers, mixed with some of their very own tunes. For just $35 per person plus tax and gratuity, enjoy beer, wine, and light appetizers! *Doors open at 7:30pm.
On average, Americans eat out between four to five times a week. Wow! If you’re going to eat out, chances are, you want to be sure you are doing it right. Join us for a first of its kind dining event where you will learn the ins and outs of appropriate dining skills and etiquette. Suitable for all ages, children will learn how to properly set a table while adults can brush up on hosting a dinner party. By the time lunch is served you will be a dining pro!
Another newbie to our special events calendar this year, this hands-on, introductory class is designed to perfect and improve your everyday knife skills so you can be more efficient in the kitchen. Work side-by-side with Chef Jim as you learn about the variety of blade shapes, practice honing and gain insight when sharpening. Although not required, you are welcome to bring your own knives!
With golfing season right around the corner, we think it’s the perfect opportunity to come out for a beer and see some old, familiar faces. In traditional fashion, a tasting reception complete with signature beer and passed hors d’oeuvres will commence at 7:00pm in our glass-enclosed Atrium. Afterwards have a seat at our family-style feast and indulge in your favorite comfort food delights.

ust as in years past, we will be offering instructions on our Opti-Shot simulator right here in the Golf Shop all winter long! Lessons will be on an appointment only basis, and an email will be sent after the new year listing the days and times that David, Bill or myself will be available. It’s the best way to maintain any progress you made on your game during the season or to get a jump start on the upcoming golf season.

We also want to encourage all golf members to get familiar with the calendar on the club website. Entering tournaments is as easy as going to the event on the calendar approximately one month before its date. Invitations are no longer used and emails will be sent sparingly so we strongly encourage regularly looking at the calendar to register for events.

ith another year behind us, the course is now closed until April 2017. On that note, I would like to thank you for enjoying the golf course over this past season. While everyone is enjoying their winter breaks, there will be no stopping here, as projects will continue over the winter months to help bring you an even better playing experience during the 2017 season. We are currently in the process of working on some of the Master Plan projects that will lead to new chipping areas, improved tee boxes, and renovated bunkers on a number of various holes. We will also be working on a complete bunker renovation over the winter to help improve the consistency and overall playability of the bunkers. If you would like to periodically check on the projects going on, please feel free to visit the all new Ramsey Golf & Country Club Grounds Maintenance Blog at www.rgccgrounds.com. This blog has been implemented to help keep the membership and community informed as to current golf course conditions, projects being worked on, and future plans for the course and surrounding property. The blog will be updated once a week with the happenings of the maintenance staff and projects on the course. Thank you again for your continued support.
