Parshat Tzav
Summary This week’s parasha describes different types of korbanot (offerings) that were brought in the Mishkan. One type of korban, the korban Mincha, was made of flour and oil (like crackers). The kohanim would burn the korban mincha on the mizbei’ah (altar) and the smoke would rise as a pleasing smell for Hashem. The Kohanim ate whatever was remaining. Before the Kohanim started their new jobs, Moshe needed to train them. This was done through a ceremony called the milluim (inauguration) and it lasted for 7 days. Moshe dressed Aharon in his Kohen Gadol clothes and dressed Aharon’s sons in their Kohanim clothes. He sprinkled holy oil over all the Kohanim. For 7 days Moshe did all the work in the Mishkan so the Kohanim could watch and learn.
Discussion: Has someone ever taught you how to do something? How did you learn? Did you watch somebody first?
