EARLY CHILDHOOD CENTER The youngest learners at Ramaz are growing in ways that reach far beyond the classroom. Our outdoor classroom space promotes small group work, process-oriented exploratory learning, and a sensory-rich environment for curious young minds. To bring this space to life, we have partnered with Grow Torah, which creates educational experiences that help our students explore Jewish values and Torah lessons while learning the fundamentals of gardening. These experiences are more than play—they are lessons in critical thinking, problem solving, empathy, and tikkun olam. Donor support turned a vision into a living, breathing space where curiosity blossoms, Torah comes alive, and the foundations of a lifelong love of learning take root.

LOWER SCHOOL In the Lower School, our students experienced a year filled with discovery, creativity, and joy. Through engaging, hands-on activities, Lower School students deepened their understanding of the chagim. They constructed chanukkiot, baked challah with their families, and took part in art and music experiences that enriched their holiday learning. Our students even took their learning beyond the classroom and into the streets of New York City! Visits from renowned authors ignited the students’ imagination, while field days and Shabbatonim strengthened friendships. Each of these experiences embodied Ramaz’s core values —Torah, derech eretz, and academic excellence— all seamlessly integrated into meaningful, child-centered learning. Thanks to our generous supporters, we are reminded that education extends far beyond the classroom; it is a vibrant, immersive journey of living joyfully and Jewishly.

MIDDLE SCHOOL Our Middle School students reached new heights of innovation with the opening of the Aronow Family Innovation Lab. More than a room of equipment, this lab has become a hub of ingenuity, responsibility, and collaboration. By combining critical thinking, creativity, and coding, our Middle School students programmed robotic arms to explore how technology can advance equity, living out the Jewish value of responsibility for all humankind. They also worked on projects aligned with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals and even created special hostage pins using the 3D printers. Grounded in Jewish values, the Aronow Family Innovation Lab bridges Torah and modern technology, empowering students to see themselves as problem solvers and preparing them to use their knowledge for global good. Thanks to the generosity of our donors, this bold step forward is inspiring a generation of compassionate innovators and future leaders. UPPER SCHOOL The spirit of Ramaz shined brightly in our Upper School this year through the Sam Gyenes Memorial Basketball Tournament and the transformation of our gymnasium. The tournament, rooted in Sam’s legacy of menschlichkeit, united students from five schools in an atmosphere of sportsmanship and solidarity. It was made even more meaningful by honoring Omer Neutra z”l and standing proudly with Israel. Thanks to the generosity of our donors, the recent gym renovation transformed our courts, bleachers, walls, and scoreboards—ensuring that athletics at Ramaz remain a source of pride, school spirit, and personal growth. Looking ahead, the forthcoming dedication of the Sam Gyenes Legacy Hallway will honor Sam’s memory and inspire Ramaz students to carry his light forward for generations to come. FIRST ANNUAL ARTS DINNER This year, Ramaz proudly introduced the Adele Sebbag Arts Dinner, a new tradition dedicated to celebrating student creativity. The evening showcased the vital role of music, theater, and visual arts in shaping our students’ identity. Through heartfelt student reflections and nostalgic photo montages, the event highlighted how the arts give our students voice, confidence, and connection. 88th ANNUAL DINNER The 88th Annual Dinner was an uplifting display of community and commitment. Hundreds gathered to honor Mr. Jonathan Cannon for his leadership in Jewish education, Ms. Sherri Libin for her leadership in chesed, and Mr. David Gold for his leadership in civics, and recognized alumni Sam Fried '15 and Rebecca Massel '21 for their commitment to Israel and stance against antisemitism. The evening featured themed culinary tributes celebrating historic Jewish leaders, tributes to the honorees, and words from our very own Mayor Eric Adams, and it celebrated the impact of Ramaz on the Jewish world today. The performances by students across all divisions were a testament to the excellence nurtured within our walls. Beyond the celebration, the evening generated vital support for our Annual Campaign, ensuring Ramaz can continue its mission and that our shared future shines as bright as our storied past.

ISRAEL EXPERIENCE Few experiences capture the mission of Ramaz more powerfully than the journeys our students take to Israel and Poland. This year, our 8th graders travelled together to Israel for a transformative week of discovery and connection. Walking the land of our ancestors, they deepened their love for Am Yisrael and Medinat Yisrael while performing countless acts of chesed that brought Torah values to life. For our seniors, the Poland–Israel Experience marked the culminating chapter of their Ramaz education. Over five solemn days in Poland, they bore witness to the richness of pre-war Jewish life, honored the memory of those killed in the Shoah, and confronted the sites of unimaginable tragedy. From there, they journeyed to Israel, where three days of celebration affirmed the promise of the future of the Jewish people. Standing in Jerusalem after walking through Auschwitz, our students embodied the story of the Jewish people: from the ashes of destruction to the rebuilding of life. Thanks you to Margo and Jack Schwartz & Erica ‘93 and Rob Schwartz for providing critical seed funding for an expanded Upper School Israel Curriculum. Ramaz is building a generation of graduates who will carry with them a knowledgeable, passionate, and resilient commitment to Israel and the Jewish people. From advanced training in literacy instruction that will transform learning for hundreds of Lower School students, to international professional development at CERN’s IdeaSquare in Geneva, our teachers are boldly leading the way in education. They deepened their craft, connected with world experts, and returned with innovative methods to enrich our students’ lives. Whether celebrating faculty at the Israeli Film Festival or empowering them with training in cutting-edge pedagogy, donor support made it clear: investing in our teachers is the greatest investment in our children’s future. ALUMNI This year, Ramaz hosted reunions for the classes of 2014, 2019, 2000, and 1964, celebrating their respective 5-year, 10-year, 25-year and 60-year anniversaries since graduation. In the wake of the ongoing war in Israel, these gatherings became moments of solidarity as alumni reconnected with classmates, commemorated Yom HaZikaron, heard from fellow graduates who have served in the IDF, and joined together in tefillot for our brothers and sisters in Israel. Alongside these meaningful moments, our seniors participated in the annual Mimi and Emil Weingarten Alumni Career Showcase, featuring young alumni working in fields ranging from law and technology to nonprofit work and healthcare. In July 2025, more than 60 alumni came together for the Annual Alumni Summer Networking Event, generously hosted by Gabe Marans ‘04 at Savills. The evening featured a panel of entrepreneurs, moderated by Dr. Noam Wasserman, who shared their keys to success and reflected on lessons learned from their years at Ramaz.

We are particularly excited when our young alumni come back to share their wisdom with current students. Whether it be for a panel about life on college campuses, speaking with students about their gap year in Israel, or participating in an alumni sporting event, the energy in the building is always buzzing when young alumni return. Ramaz alumni don’t just gather in Manhattan; Ramaz meets them where they are. In February, our Florida alumni were hosted at the home of Jessica and Amiel '88 Lindenbaum for an evening of reconnecting and reminiscing across generations and in July Ramaz alumni were hosted by Daniella '07 and David '06 Spier to hear a shiur from Dr. Wasserman during the nine days on Leadership During Times of War.

RAMAZ ALUMNI HOCKEY GAME In memory of Elliot Freilich ‘92 z’’l
The First Annual Elliot Freilich ‘92 z”l Alumni Hockey Game brought more than 300 people together for a spirited afternoon of remembrance and pride. Alumni faced off against the Varsity team, honoring Elliot’s legacy with competition, camaraderie, and heart. Retiring his #17 jersey immortalized his role as both an athlete and a mensch. The creation of the Elliot Freilich Ramaz Hockey Fund now ensures that Ramaz hockey will grow in strength and opportunity, carrying Elliot’s passion forward for future generations. This was not only a game, it was a legacy of Jewish community, teamwork, and love for Ramaz in action. The Elliot Freilich Ramaz Hockey Fund has been established to honor Elliot’s legacy and support the continued growth of hockey at Ramaz, building more opportunities for student athletes. We are grateful to the supporters for helping us bring together Ramaz alumni hockey players for a day of competition and celebration.
