I am an interior design student at Kansas State University with a unique journey that began as a nursing major before discovering my true passion for design. My background has given me an appreciationforhowenvironmentsimpactwell-being,whichInow channelintocreatingspacesthatarebothfunctionalanduplifting.

As a Sales Representative for hard surfaces and area rugs, I collaborated with designers to meet project needs. My duties included bidding, preparing quotes and invoices, managing payments, and assisting with material selection. I ensured alignment with project specifications while keeping designers updated on new products. I also coordinated material orders for timely execution and provided excellent customer service by addressing inquiries and resolving issues quickly in order to foster strong relationships.

Thedesign intentionallysupportschildrenonthe AutismSpectrumthroughtheelimination oflonghallwayscreatingpredictable circulation,clearwayfinding,aswellas providingenvironmentsthatminimize sensoryoverload.Softbutclearlightingand acalmingmaterialpalette,anddedicated playandwaitingzonesallowchildrento engagewiththespaceattheirown comfortlevel.Examroomsofferacoustic privacy,dualaccessforstaffandpatients, andflexiblelayoutsthataccommodate varyingsensoryandbehavioralneeds. Groundedinbarrier-freedesign,theclinic prioritizesinclusivity,comfort,anddignity forpediatricpatientsofallabilities.

DESIGNINSPIRATION

Drawinginspirationfromtheenchanting impressionisticstylizationofLudwig Bemelmans'illustrationsin"Madeline,"the pediatricclinicbecomesacanvasof whimsicalwonderandasanctuaryof imagination.Thedelicate,almostchildlike watercolordepictionssettheperfect backdropfortheadventurousspiritinstilling inchildrenofallagesthecourageto bravelyfacewhateverchallengescome theirway.

SPACIALPLANNING

Thisspaceisthoughtfullydesignedwith neurodivergentchildrenasaprimaryfocus.To accommodatetheirneeds,weremovedlong corridorsandensuredeasyaccesstoall examinationrooms.

MATERIALPALLET

Theareaisdesignedwithsoft,calmingcolorsto fosteratranquilatmosphere,whilereducingthe presenceofharshfluorescentlightingandnoisy soundsthatmightbeoverwhelming.

Thisprojectreimaginesa16,000SFcreative Advertisingworkplacefor“NEXT’sChicago office”,designedtosupporthybrid collaboration,creativity,andemployee wellbeingacrosstwoconnectedfloors.Inspired byChicago’sdeep-rootedbaseballculture,the workplacedrawsfromAmerica’spastimeas bothaculturalandspatialframework,using familiarpatternstofostercomfort,connection, andcreativity.

Thelayoutisorganizedusingthegeometryofa baseballdiamond,providingcleardirectional flow,intuitivecirculation,andabalanceof symmetryandflexibility.Thisstructurepromotes movementandsocialinteractionwhilehelping usersnavigatethespace.Arangeofopen, shielded,andenclosedworksettingssupports neurodiverseemployees,byofferingsensory choice,predictablepathways,controlled acoustics,andadjustablelighting.Groundedin inclusivedesignprinciplesandNEXT’s“Being MoreHuman”ethos,theworkplacecreatesan environmentthatisengaging,humancentered,andsupportiveofbothfocusedwork andmeaningfulcollaboration.

INSPIRATION-BASEBALL

SportsarewovenintothefabricofAmerican culture,fosteringLifelongLoyaltyamong fansfortheirbelovedteams.Nowhereisthis devotionmorepalpablethaninChicago. Baseballstandsasapivotalpastime, offeringanEscapefromthemonotonyof dailylife.Infusingthisspiritintothe workplacewillcultivateanenvironment whereindividualsenjoytheirtime,Sparking CreativityandCollaboration.Byembracing America'scherishedpastimeintheoffice, bothemployeesandclientscan"BeMore Human",presentingideaswithwarmthand forgingDeeperConnectionswithone another.

eChicago’sloveforbaseballrunsdeep.Itiswovenintothe fabricofthecity’shistory,identity,andspirit.Fromthebu neighborhoodstotheiconicivy-coveredwallsof Field,baseballisn’tjustasportinChicago;it’sawayoflife. Withtraditionthatspansgenerations,thepeopleofChicago haveembracedbaseballinawayfewcitiescanrival,making itasymbolofresilienceandcommunitypride bringspeopletogether,offeringasharedexperiencethat transcendsage,race,andbackground.Whetherit’sfamilies gatheredaroundtheTV,coworkersdiscussinglastnight’s game,orfansmeetingatlocalsportsbars, acommongroundthatconnectseveryone.

THE BALL PARK

Physicalactivityisanimportantaspectincreatingahealthywork-life Balance.IncludingaspacethatnotonlyencouragesTeamBondingbut facilitatesmovementisvitaltowork-placehappiness.Regularphysical activitynotonlyimprovesPhysicalHealthbutalsoboostsMentalClarity, Productivity andoveralljobSatisfaction.

THE AGORA

AdaptiveReuse-Spring2024

Thisgroupprojectreimaginesaformermid-century JCPenneybuildingindowntownSalina,Kansas,asa mixed-usecommunitydestinationrootedinthe conceptofUnityThroughDiversity.Drawing inspirationfromtheancientGreekagora,thedesign positionsthebuildingasamoderncivicheart,one thatsupportscommerce,gathering,andcultural exchangewhilestrengtheningcommunityidentity.The projectembracesdualitybyintentionallyblending contrastingelements:publicandprivate,oldand new,energeticandcalm,creatingspacesthatinvitea widerangeofusersandactivitiestocoexist.Working collaboratively,ourteamdevelopedacohesive strategythatunifiesretail,incubatorspaces,afood hall,outdoorgatheringareas,andapermanent restaurantacrosstwolevels.Myindividual contributionsfocusedonconceptdevelopment, materialselection,façadedesign,andrestaurant development,ensuringthearchitectureandinteriors workedtogethertoreinforceopenness,connection, andstreetengagement.Theredesignedfaçade increasestransparencyalongSantaFeAvenue, activatingtheurbanedge,whilematerialchoices balancedurabilitywithwarmthtosupportboth everydayuseandsocialexperience.Therestaurant servesasacentralgatheringspacewithintheproject, anchoringthemodernagoraandreinforcingthe building’sroleasaplaceofsharedexperienceand connection.

THE HEARTH

Ahearthistraditionallythecenterofahome, thefireplaceoropencookingspacewhere mealswereprepared,andpeoplegathered. Historically,thehearthwasmorethanjusta functionalelement,itwastheheartofthe household,aplaceofnourishment,comfort, andcommunity. Takingthisideawe includedabuiltinfireplaceandutilizeda warmpalettetocreateafeelingofbeingata hearth.

Theoutdoorspaceoffersadynamic newview,featuringastageforlive concertsandalargeprojectorfor moviescreenings,creatinga versatileareaforentertainmentand differentevents.

Thedayviewshowcasesafamilyfriendlyenvironmentwithvarietyofseating optionstoaccommodateallabilitiesandincreaseuserchoice.

Thenightviewshowcasesthefluidityofthespaceasitcaneasilyattractand holdeventscateredtoyoungergenerationsatnight.
