Jaspal Sidhu is the Founder and Chairman of the Singapore Intercultural Schools (SIS) and the Inspirasi Group of Schools, one of Southeast Asia’s largest private school networks, providing quality education to diverse communities across Indonesia and beyond.
After graduating from Raffles Institution, Jaspal went on to pursue a degree in Civil and Structural Engineering from the National University of Singapore. He also earned an MBA (Distinction) from the University of Hull (UK).
Jaspal began his career in the coal mining industry, working across the Indonesian archipelago where he witnessed significant disparities in access to quality education. The son of a humble doorman, Jaspal understood the transformative power of education. Motivated by this conviction, he decided to establish high-quality, affordable schools in big, small and emerging cities. The Group’s growth has been through strategic partnerships with the World Bank Group and international investors.
In 2019, the Organisation received the World Bank Group and Financial Times (UK) Global Award for its transformative work in education. In 2024, the Centre of the Edge (Deloitte) listed the Group as one of SE Asia’s most impactful Organisations. A year later, Cambridge University highlighted the Group as an example of how innovation and unique systems can help make globally benchmarked education accessible to more communities. The Group’s best practices also earned Jaspal a call to help in an initiative by the World Bank Group and Harvard University to develop a set of principles called “Ethics in Education”. The Group currently sits as a nominee for the 2026 INSEAD-Hoffman Institute Stewardship Award.
Today, the Organisation continues to expand its footprint across Indonesia, India, and other emerging markets. Jaspal is a frequent speaker at international conferences in cities including Cape Town, San Francisco, Singapore, Dubai, Bangkok, Jakarta, Tokyo, Mumbai and Kigali. In 2025, he was invited to share the stage with global leaders at the ASEAN Summit in Kuala Lumpur, where he spoke on education, human capital development, and the role of affordable, high-quality education in developing countries.
Jaspal is also Indonesia’s 3-time amateur stand-up comedy champion.
