For over 15 years, Rafael Amaral has worked in the renewable energy industry, contributing to the deployment of utility-scale power systems across multiple continents. With a background in electrical engineering, he learned early that consistent, field-based performance is the foundation of trust in this sector. Keeping turbines operational, maintaining grid stability, and ensuring teams deliver safely and on schedule have been constant focuses throughout his career. Rafael currently serves as Executive Vice President at a renewable energy company, where he holds full P&L responsibility for approximately $220 million in services, including field operations, projects, repowering, and asset management across wind, solar, and battery storage in North America. Rafael's journey began in Brazil, where he graduated as valedictorian in Electrical Engineering. Early career experience designing high-voltage substations and power systems developed his instincts for how infrastructure behaves under real-world conditions. These technical foundations later supported his leadership in managing complex energy operations with long-term implications. In 2011, Rafael Amaral of Florida joined a global energy organization, progressing through technical and leadership roles. He began by managing wind commissioning and site operations, leading turbine deliveries, coordinating engineering, and engaging customers. Over time, he took on leadership of service teams in several Latin American countries, eventually overseeing a $10 million portfolio with about 120 employees. These roles taught him how to guide distributed teams and manage operational challenges in remote areas. His promotion to senior leadership involved responsibility for about 1,600 field staff across 25 countries. He worked on workforce strategy, training programs, and operating standards. Later, he led global renewables operations valued at nearly $190 million, focusing on improving safety, reducing inefficiencies, and achieving consistent outcomes.
