Welcome to the third edition of the Radical Magazine, a snapshot into the thrilling world of Radical Motorsport. We strive to be the best Motorsport experience in the paddock, and with Radical Cup races at Zandvoort, Laguna Seca and Silverstone all in the days just before the magazine went to print, we have enjoyed what is undoubtedly one of our best ever calendars visiting the world’s very best race circuits.
Building on the momentum of the spectacular Yas Marina World Finals in November 2024, the 2025 finals will be at the iconic Virginia International Raceway 7th to 9th November. Entries are now open, and we look forward to seeing you there.
Following the success of the Radical Cup North America, now a regular fixture at IndyCar race weekends, we announce our second continental race series with the Radical Cup Europe which will go live in 2026 and feature bucket list European tracks.
January saw delivery of our 3,000th car, a specially commissioned SR3 XXR, and this incredible milestone is testament to the dedication and talent of our team. Customer feedback drove specification changes for the SR3 XXR and SR10 XXR and a 719bhp version of the V6 bi-turbo RXC was also launched.
The spirit of camaraderie in the Radical community is something truly special, a unique bond forged by shared experiences behind the wheel of these incredible machines. The community continues to grow in both the real world and virtual racing, and if you haven’t already done so, we would encourage you to register for My Radical.
Special mention to our Dealer of the Year winners which you can read more about, and a warm welcome to the Craft Bamboo team from Radical Japan who joined the network in 2025. Finally, we honour the memory of John Morris, founder of Spring Mountain Motor Resort in Nevada, who sadly passed away in May 2025. A true pioneer of the private member circuit model, John’s vision helped shape Radical’s presence in North America, and his legacy will continue to inspire.
We are grateful for your continued support of the brand, and we hope you enjoy this insight into our world.

RADICAL i RACING COMMUNITY
From Lockdown Lobbies to Global Glory: The Rise of Radical SimRacing.
IT WAS THE SPRING OF 2021, IN THE midst of the pandemic, when a group of Radical enthusiasts came together virtually to compete in the Formula Baltic Radical Championship. None of them could have predicted just how much camaraderie and excitement would emerge from those early online races.
Fast forward a few years, and under the leadership of Sandro Kapeller, that same group laid the foundation for Radical SimRacing, a dedicated online community created to become the central hub for all things Radical in the world of sim racing. What started as a small gathering has since grown into an international championship on iRacing, featuring both Pro and Am classes across European and American divisions. Each season culminates in the Radical SimRacing World Finals, where the best drivers from around the globe compete for ultimate
bragging rights in a high-stakes showdown.
Since 2022, every season has brought its share of drama: races decided by 0.001 seconds, titles lost by a single point and 40-car grids storming through the virtual streets of Long Beach.
For 2025, Radical SimRacing introduces an additional path to the World Finals: a special qualifying event in November will give standout drivers – including those who made a mark in the iRacing Radical E-Cup but couldn’t commit to a full championship – a chance to earn their place on the grid.
Beyond chasing titles and trophies, Radical SimRacing offers a competitive and welcoming environment where every driver can pursue their goals and enjoy meaningful racing. Built by enthusiasts, for enthusiasts.

RADICAL’S ABU DHABI SHOWCASE
A thrilling season fnale in Abu Dhabi brought together top Radical drivers from around the world for an unforgettable weekend of highspeed action and international camaraderie.
Words Megan Keech Photography Craig Kidwell
THE 2024 KINETIC7 RADICAL WORLD Finals signalled a high point in the brand’s global motorsport journey. Building on the success of previous events in Las Vegas and Portimão, this year’s Finals moved to the Middle East, setting up camp at one of the world’s most iconic motorsport venues: Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi. With its F1-grade infrastructure it offered a fitting backdrop to what has become Radical’s most ambitious and international gathering of the year.
Organised with local support from GulfSport Racing, Radical’s UAE dealer partner, the event brought together a truly global grid. Thirty-two drivers from across North America, Europe, Asia and the Middle East arrived in the UAE with one goal: to be crowned a Radical World Champion. The Finals were made possible by title sponsor Kinetic7, an Abu Dhabi-based tech company behind a cutting edge and revolutionary hydrogen/ water cooking system.
More than seven hours of testing allowed
drivers to learn the 5.5-kilometre, 17-turn circuit in full before Saturday’s high-pressure 20-minute qualifying session. The tightly scheduled race weekend included three sprint races and a final endurance contest, with points tallied across the heats to set the grid for the title-deciding finale on Sunday afternoon.
As with previous events, the Finals ran as a multi-class contest, with Platinum (SR10), PRO1500 (SR3) and PRO1340 (SR3) all sharing a grid but competing for their own titles. In Platinum, Dubai-based Alim Geshev, was untouchable all weekend. With the high-output SR10 XXR under him, he took pole and won every race across the four sessions, holding off pressure from Oscar Joyce (UK) and Gregg Gorski (USA). Geshev’s clean sweep highlighted both his personal progression as a driver and the pace of the TT Racing operation on home turf.
The core of the action was in the PRO1500 class, where a field of 24 SR3 XXRs delivered some of the most intense racing of the season. The mix of youth and experience in this category created a thrilling dynamic. Young Mexican talent Ian Aguilera, who had previously raced in Europe, went head-to-head with UK Radical regular Kristian Brookes and Chinese driver Jack Yang, both from Valour Racing. Local contender Usmaan Mughal, meanwhile, turned heads with an assertive performance in the opening sprint, passing his more decorated rivals at the start and holding on to take class victory in Race 1. Aguilera

‘YAS MARINA DELIVERED ON EVERY FRONT’
struck back in Race 2, finding a way past Mughal to claim the win, while Race 3 saw a breakout drive from Yang, promoted to the win after Brookes was penalised post-race.
Further down the grid, PRO1340 featured an intra-Canadian battle that ran through all three heats. Robert Burgess, Eric Andrews and John Hughes, representing Radical Canada East and West, demonstrated how closely matched the teams from North America have become. Their respectful, hard-fought duels added another layer of professionalism to an already stacked weekend.
The final race was the most dramatic of all. With grid positions based on cumulative points, Geshev and Aguilera started on the front row ahead of Joyce, Gorski, Brookes and Yang. The opening lap, however, delivered a heavy reminder of just how high the stakes had become. A multicar incident exiting Turn 1 forced a red flag, with Saudi driver Saeed Almouri, British racer David Evans, local UAE driver George Harding, and Canada’s Eric Andrews among those caught up. The field reassembled for the restart, and the race
was back on. Once again, Geshev established control at the front, while Aguilera and Mughal resumed their gripping on-track rivalry. Mughal launched a daring move at Turn 4 to put himself back into podium contention, only to find his run cut short after contact involving Yang and Parish brought out the safety car. The race would finish under caution, bringing an anticlimactic end to an otherwise action-packed finale.
Despite the subdued finish, the final results underlined the competitive quality of the event. Geshev was crowned Radical Platinum World Champion, ahead of Joyce and Gorski. Aguilera secured the PRO1500 title ahead of Brookes and North American Radical Champion Jordan Missig, who flew in from the US to compete with Graham Rahal Performance. Burgess completed a clean sweep in PRO1340, holding off Andrews and Hughes to take the title.
Beyond the results, the event highlighted the strength of Radical’s international dealer network, the technical parity between cars prepared on different continents, and the growing diversity of the driver pool. But most of all, it reinforced Radical’s commitment to providing a high-level racing environment that remains accessible, aspirational and professionally executed. From the hospitality in the paddock to the wheel-towheel battles on track, Yas Marina delivered on every front. This was more than a race meeting - it was a celebration of everything the Radical community has built together.

BRONZE AGE
Celebrating 3,000 hand-built cars, Radical Motorsport marks its 28th anniversary with a one-off SR3 and a milestone that refects three decades of game-changing race cars.
Words George Chapman Photography Rick Noel
A MILESTONE ON TRACK
More than just a number, the 3,000th SR3 symbolises Radical’s commitment to accessible, highperformance motorsport.
ON 28 JANUARY 2025, THE BRAND’S 28TH anniversary, Radical Motorsport was proud to mark the production of its 3,000th race car. This remarkable milestone underscores Radical’s commitment and passion for motorsport that has driven the company into its third decade.
The 3,000th car is a specially finished SR3, Radical’s most popular model and a cornerstone of its global racing success. Featuring a one-off chassis powder-coated in bronze with matching wheels and bespoke decals, the car was delivered to long-time customer and Radical Cup UK competitor John Hewitt as a very personal creation.
“I’ve raced with Radical for years and have always admired the craftsmanship and support from the team,” said Hewitt. “To be the recipient of car number 3,000 is a real honour and something I’ll never forget. This car feels like a celebration for everyone involved with Radical over the years.”
THE BIG REVEAL
The handover took place at Donington Park in January, where the Radical team had gathered for a celebratory shoot on a typically cold and rainsoaked British day. Even the weather couldn’t

UNVEILED IN THE RAIN Donington Park delivered classic British weather, but the newest Radical shone regardless, making its debut in style.
dull the car’s visual impact, and the images captured have already begun to circulate within the community, reminding everyone of how far Radical has come.
Founded in 1997, Radical Motorsport set out to build a different kind of race car; lightweight, affordable, fast, and above all, thrilling. The 1100 Clubsport, unveiled later that year at Brands Hatch, became the first Radical. Just two years later, enough cars had been built to fill a grid. It
was the start of something special.
In the years since, the Radical range has expanded and evolved, but the philosophy has remained the same: deliver world-class track performance in a car that’s approachable to drive and cost-effective to run. That combination has seen Radical grow to a presence in more than 20 countries, supported by a 30+ strong global dealer network. The brand now underpins 14 single-make Radical Cup championships all
around the world, making it one of the most accessible and exciting paths into competitive motorsport globally.
IMPORTANT LANDMARK
“Reaching the 3,000th car milestone is a testament to the dedication and talent of our team,” said Dan Redpath, Chief Commercial O cer of Radical Motorsport. “It’s a proud moment not only for Radical but also for our
customers and fans who have supported us through this incredible journey. Our success demonstrates that by focusing on what we do best – delivering world-class race cars and unrivalled customer experiences – we can thrive even in challenging times.”
And those times have indeed been challenging. In recent years, the UK automotive industry has faced considerable headwinds. Supply chain constraints, rising costs and shifting legislation have all created hurdles to overcome. Radical has defied these trends by leaning into its strengths. With a laser focus on customer support,
motorsport engagement, and high-quality engineering, the company has achieved sustained profitability and continued international growth.
The SR3 itself is central to that success. It remains Radical’s flagship model and accounts for the lion’s share of the 3,000-car milestone. Launched as a more refined and versatile alternative to the early Clubsport models, the SR3 continues to deliver a unique mix of speed, agility, and value. The car is as happy doing laps in the hands of a club racer as it is competing for wins in Radical’s premier championships.
For Hewitt, the SR3 has become something of
‘THE BRONZEFINISHED 3,000TH CAR MAY STAND OUT AESTHETICALLY, BUT UNDERNEATH IT’S ALL RADICAL’
a calling card. His long association with the brand speaks to Radical’s strength in building not just cars, but communities. Radical racers from all over the world share more than just machinery, they share a spirit of camaraderie and competitiveness that sets the brand apart.
The bronze-finished 3,000th car may stand out aesthetically, but underneath it’s all Radical. Built at the company’s Peterborough HQ by the same skilled team that assembles every car by hand, it showcases the quality and precision that Radical owners have come to expect. Every component is tried and tested and put together with the utmost care and pride.
DRIVEN BY PURPOSE
For the Radical team, this milestone is a moment of celebration, but also one of reflection. The company’s origins were humble, but its ambitions

were oversized! To have built 3,000 cars in such a competitive segment is a remarkable feat, and one that speaks to the enduring relevance of the brand’s core mission to make motorsport more accessible, exhilarating, and rewarding.
“Ultimately, this isn’t just about numbers,” added Redpath. “It’s about the stories behind them. The drivers we’ve supported, the races we’ve run, and the community we’ve built along the way.”
That community includes racers of all levels, from novices getting their first taste of circuit competition to seasoned drivers chasing championships. And while the motorsport landscape may continue to evolve, Radical’s place within it remains a constant. This milestone only strengthens that.
Here’s to the next chapter. And the next thousand cars.

HANDBUILT
IN ENGLAND
Step inside Radical’s Peterborough factory, where the brand’s hand-built race cars come to life.
Words George Chapman
RADICAL MOTORSPORT’S FACTORY IN Peterborough is a hive of engineering talent, craftsmanship and race-bred passion. Here, every Radical is assembled from the ground up, by a dedicated team of around 100 skilled specialists. From precision welding chassis and building race-spec engines to hand crafting bodywork and
dyno-testing final builds, each department works in harmony to create some of the most accessible, exciting race cars in the world. The factory isn’t flashy or overly polished, it’s honest, hardworking, and quietly proud of its British engineering roots. Whether you’re a seasoned racer or a first-time Radical owner, this is where the journey begins.
WE ARE HERE
CHASSIS BUILD
This is the first of Radical’s four “feeder departments” which handcrafts chassis and associated components for new car builds as well as for spare parts. Radical’s spaceframe chassis delivers unparalleled driver feedback, is built to stringent motorsport safety standards and offers lower cost and faster repairs. In addition to the absorption properties of the spaceframe, the exceptional space in our cars around the driver minimises risks in the event of an impact.
BODYSHOP
The second of the feeder departments and where a team of 25 skilled technicians handcraft lightweight composite bodywork parts. Shaped, bonded, and fnished on site, each panel is a blend of art and function. Strong, light and ready to race. Making fbreglass bodywork is a hands-on process that requires craftsmanship and precision at every stage.
PRECISION ENGINEERING
In Radical’s third feeder department, a feet of machines for CNC machining, turning and milling produce many of the company’s steel and aluminium products using CAD SolidWorks design software. The department also sells to external customers in a variety of industries, including automotive, marine, oil & gas and medical equipment.
RADICAL PERFORMANCE ENGINES
At the heart of the factory sits the climate controlled RPE engine shop, where all new Radical engines are hand-built and customer units are refreshed. The RPE team specialises in motorsport spec high-output powertrains such as the in-house macroblock V8, the best-selling stroked 1500 engine and the 719bhp RXC V6 bi-turbo engine. Around 150 customer engines are rebuilt in the department each year.
‘THERE’S REAL PRIDE IN EVERY CAR WE BUILD’
RACE CAR PRODUCTION
Radical’s Production area is where each new car takes shape. On receiving a new car order, the four feeder shops manufacture its bill of materials, delivering around all of the components to the Car Production team. Each new car is then built by two technicians starting with a bare chassis to create a fully fnished race machine. The team of technicians build every Radical by hand, working to exacting quality processes and audit checks.
JAMIE WIDNALL – FACTORY MANAGER
“I’VE BEEN AT RADICAL FOR MY ENTIRE CAREER. I JOINED STRAIGHT from college and worked my way through just about every handson role there is – fabrication, production, bodyshop, fnal prep. That experience means I know how these cars are built, how they perform, and what our customers expect. Now, as Factory Manager, I’m making sure every car that leaves our doors delivers on that promise. Radical’s ethos really appeals to me: built from the ground up
and always less is more. We create race cars that are raw, fast and authentic. We don’t believe in gimmicks, just the best track experience for the money.
What makes it even more special here is the people. Everyone knows everyone. We’re as close-knit and passionate as a motorsport company gets. There’s real pride in every car we build, because it’s done by hand, by a team that lives and breathes racing.”
ENGINE DYNO & ROLLING ROAD
All engines, whether brand new or rebuilt are quality tested on the company’s bespoke engine dyno to be bedded in and quality approved. New cars then go through a second dyno procedure on the company’s rolling road allowing technicians to verify power outputs, calibrate components, and carry out critical reliability checks. Housed in soundproofed rooms with powerful extraction, they form a vital fnal step in Radical’s build and quality sign-off process.
‘THAT’S WHAT MAKES A RADICAL SPECIAL’
JAMES PINKERTON –
HEAD OF RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT
WITH OVER 14 YEARS AT RADICAL, James Pinkerton leads the Research & Development department with a sharp focus on innovation and performance. James is a Radical owner and championship winner which certainly helps guide him through his day job.
A skilled development engineer with extensive expertise in CAD and engine tuning, James ensures every Radical is not only exhilarating, but accessible and rewarding to drive.
“Our brief is clear,” James says. “Cost-effective, high-performance, approachable and highly drivable sports racing cars. That’s what makes a Radical special.”
R&D
Led by James Pinkerton (see boxout), Radical’s R&D team designs every bespoke component in-house. Combining costeffective innovation with high-performance results, their mission is to make Radicals thrilling yet approachable. New parts are race-tested in real time by entering a development car in every Radical Cup UK round. Product refnement is heavily steered by feedback from Radical’s customers and dealer network.
Alongside his right-hand man Ross Elliott, James designs, tests, and refnes Radical’s bespoke components entirely in-house. But his offce isn’t just the design studio, it’s the racetrack, too. James races the factory development car at the back of the grid in every Radical Cup UK round, gathering live data and testing new parts under real race conditions, all while running sustainable fuel. It’s development in action, and it’s how Radical stays ahead.

RADICAL MOTORSPORT’S STORY HAS always been about delivering accessible, high-performance racing. While today’s latest XXR generation models roll out of our Cambridgeshire factory, there’s a parallel narrative playing out across the globe; one where earlier-generation Radical race cars are still being raced, enjoyed, and celebrated by passionate owners and communities.
Whether navigating the tight switchbacks of an Italian hillclimb, sprinting down the straights at Road America, or dicing for class honours in the UK’s Radical Club Challenge, these machines remain an active and important part of Radical’s global racing ecosystem.
A GLOBAL LEGACY, STILL RUNNING STRONG
Radical’s early cars from the original Clubsport and Prosport to the SR4, SR5 and earlier SR3s, may no longer occupy the spotlight, but they’ve never lost their relevance. These cars continue to thrive in national and club-level championships, delivering high-revving excitement and prototype-like handling that still turns heads in the paddock.
In the United States, the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) now welcomes all generations of both SR1 and SR3 models in various regional classes with a nationally consistent ruleset. The machines are a favourite for drivers looking to compete in prototype or open sports racer categories, where their power-to-weight ratio and reliability make them an enduring competitor on classic tracks coast-to-coast.

Racing, based out of Atlanta Motorsports Park (AMP), established a class for SR1 within the Southeastern Division of SCCA and as a result saw nine Radicals spread over four classes competing in the first SCCA race to be held at AMP.
Back in the UK, the Radical Club Challenge in partnership with the 750 Motor Club offers a tailored home for legacy Radical models. The series prioritises simplicity and cost-effective racing, creating the perfect arena for new drivers stepping up from track days, as well as experienced hands looking for competitive mileage in familiar machinery. The championship now features a dedicated class for factory-spec SR1 models, as well as regular competitors enjoying both PR6 and older SR3 models.
Across Europe, older Radicals have found
a unique niche in hillclimb competition. Lightweight, nimble, and boasting exceptional acceleration, Radicals are well suited to the technical demands of narrow tarmac ribbons that snake through Alpine forests and Apennine villages. The format rewards precision and commitment, both hallmarks of Radical’s DNA, and gives these classic cars a new stage to shine on.
BUILT TO LAST, LOVED TO RACE
What unites all these disciplines is one simple truth: Radical race cars are built to be driven. With simple-yet-effective spaceframe chassis,

robust powertrains and proven aero packages, it means that even decades after their launch, earlier models still offer thrilling performance.
Combined with factory support, spares availability and an active network of specialists and owners, Radical’s older cars are not museum pieces - they’re motorsport tools still doing exactly what they were designed for.
Far from being forgotten, Radical’s classic models are writing their own chapter in the brand’s global story. They provide an affordable gateway into prototype racing. They underpin grassroots championships. They introduce new countries and communities to the Radical ethos.
And most importantly, they remind us that performance doesn’t expire; it evolves, adapts, and continues to inspire. These cars prove that Radical’s past remains very much alive on track.

RECORD-BREAKING RADICAL IN THE UK’S LARGEST MOTOR RACE
THE BIRKETT RELAY IS THE UK’S LARGEST annual motor race. It has been running for 73 years and attracts 70 teams and 300 drivers each year. Going up against such a large feld of competition makes Radical and RSR’s success in the competition extra special.
The line up of James Lay, John MacLeod and Ben Stone secured a hard-fought win against ferce competition. Team RSR were the team to beat in their Radicals as they raced around the Silverstone circuit to victory in the 2024 event.
MacLeod and Stone have now achieved a hat-trick of consecutive wins, for Lay it is his second consecutive win.
MacLeod’s win was a record-breaking sixth victory, to crown him as the Birkett’s most successful driver in its 73-year history.
We asked him what he put that down to:
“I’ve run in the Birkett eight times, always in various iterations of the SR3, alongside team-mates also running SR3s.
They’ve been reliable, and consistent, and are absolutely the right tool for the job - doing well in the Birkett is about navigating your way through the incredible traffc created by 70 teams being on track, almost all of which are running non-aero machinery about 30s - 45s a lap slower.
The high closing speeds to these groups of racers, all focussed on their own Handicap race, mean you need an agile and predictable car that responds well to whatever surprises are going to come your way. It’s what makes the Birkett so appealing, and such a challenge - it’s great to be out there with machinery varying from
In 2024, after six hours of wet and dry running, seven safety cars and a total of 534 miles covered, we won by 0.95s - if that’s not a reason to go again next year I don’t know what is.
You need a car that works with you and responds in a predictable way at all times over the duration of the race. Radicals have been reliable, and consistent, and are absolutely the right tool for the job.”
Radicals have been a dominant force in the Birkett Relay since the early 2000’s and have provided ferce competition to their rivals. This year, the top three teams were all running in Radicals. All of them can be proud of the show they put on. The fght for frst in the last few laps was particularly exciting as Lay chased down Hall for the win.
We congratulate John, Ben and James on their well earnt victory, and we are pleased that they have done so well in their Radicals, adding to our successful legacy in the Birkett Relay.
If you are interested in racing your Radical in a 750 Motor Club competition, Radical Motorsport have partnered with the 750MC to put on the Radical Club Challenge Championship.

RADICAL CUP NORTH AMERICA
Our largest championship with grids close to 40 cars and supporting the INDYCAR series across the continent.
Words Tom Drewer Photography Jeff Walrich
RADICAL CUP’S LE MANS STYLE MULTIclass racing has enjoyed the spotlight as an INDYCAR support race for the past few seasons. Attracting grids of up to 40 Radicals, featuring Radical’s turbocharged 425bhp SR10 and ever popular 1500cc and 1340cc SR3 models, the continental championship has ties to INDYCAR that run deep.
Take Graham Rahal, the multiple INDYCAR race winner is the owner and dealer principal at Radical Indianapolis and the Graham Rahal Performance team which competes in the North American championship.
“This program is proven and the cars are fast,” says Rahal. “Look at Jordan Missig. He started at Autobahn Country Club in Radicals, did USF then came back to Radical Cup and won the championship, helping him to secure an INDYNXT ride. This is a cost-effective pathway for young drivers.”
Spencer Schmidt is another connection to the
INDYCAR paddock and is following in the footsteps of his father Sam, the founder of the team which we know today as Arrow McLaren.
And it’s not just young drivers who use Radicals as a ‘career catapult’. George Kurtz started later in life at Spring Mountain Motor Resort, home of one of the largest Radical dealers in the world, honing his skills behind the wheel of SR3s and is now a Le Mans 24H winner.
The success of the series is in part thanks to its accessible and popular machinery. Take the Radical SR3, the basis for the PRO 1340 (1340cc engines) and PRO 1500 (1500cc engines) classes. These cars are equally enjoyed by novice drivers as they are by the likes of Lando Norris, Lewis Hamilton and Ryan Hunter-Reay – all of whom have been thoroughly impressed.
And given their eligibility for everything from track days to SCCA, NASA and SVRA, their preeminence at country club tracks, and their “wings and slicks” GT4 beating performance comes for a
‘THIS PROGRAM IS PROVEN AND THE CARS ARE FAST’
fraction of the price, the Radical SR3 is hard to turn down for drivers and teams.
Then there’s the turbocharged 425bhp SR10, which long time Radical racer Jim Booth coined the “torque monster”. It’s effectively an SR3 on steroids, with all the power and more downforce than GT3 machinery. Current SR10 Platinum class champion is none other than former American Le Mans Series champion Jon Field - it’s no wonder Radical’s mantra is “We Make Racers”.

AUSTRALIA
CHANGING THE GAME: FIRST FOCUS RADICAL CUP AUSTRALIA
Sometimes change is wanted, and sometimes it’s necessary. In the case of Radical Motorsport in Australia, it was both.
ALTHOUGH RADICAL HAD BEEN RACING in Australia since 1999, by 2021 it was clear that the one-make series needed a reset. A refresh was required to reinvigorate not just the championship, but the brand itself across the country.
“There was always a strong competitor base in Australia,” says Radical Cup Australia Category Manager Charise Bristow, “but there was a feeling that what was there before didn’t reflect the market or Radical’s strong presence on both the East and West Coasts.”
When the Radical business model in Australia evolved to support multiple distributors, a unique opportunity emerged to start from fresh. The result was a ground-up relaunch of Radical Cup Australia in 2022. Today, it proudly stands as one of the world’s most successful and professional Radical-only championships.
Radical’s roots in Australia date back to late 1999, when the first cars arrived and began competing in New South Wales state-level racing. Over the following years, the cars spread to Queensland, Victoria and South Australia, gradually building a community of enthusiastic racers and passionate owners.
The first one-make Radical Cup race took place
in December 2010 at Sydney Motorsport Park (then Eastern Creek), spearheaded by the Sydneybased Radical distributor. Its success led to the first full Radical Australian Cup season the following year, incorporating Pro and Pro-Am pairings and a clubman cup at state level.
By 2014, the series had taken Radical racing to Mount Panorama, Bathurst, one of the world’s most iconic circuits. Radical cars became a staple of both state and national level motorsport, featuring regularly on support programs at major events. But by the late 2010s, the series was beginning to fade. The pandemic in 2020 only hastened its decline.
Fortunately, the changing structure of Radical’s importer model in Australia provided a springboard for transformation. In 2022, on the 25th anniversary of Radical Motorsport’s global launch, a new chapter began.
Radical Cup Australia was relaunched through a joint venture between Radical Australia East –led by Garth Walden Racing in Sydney – and Radical Australia West, fronted by Arise Racing in Perth. For the first time, a truly national series could be built with collaboration from both coasts. It marked the beginning of a more unified, strategic approach to Radical racing in Australia.
The five-round 2025 series supports the SRO Motorsports Australia-managed Shannons SpeedSeries, opening the field up to large audiences on both free to air and free to stream TV, plus strong trackside audiences.
Previously, the vast distances between East and West had limited participation from Western
Australian teams. But the joint venture made it feasible for teams to travel across the country and compete on a national stage. Improved logistical and promotional support allowed the series to attract new competitors and sponsors.
“Having buy-in from both sides of the country was vital,” says Bristow. “Australia’s scale is huge, and bridging that distance brought big benefits. It raised the level for Eastern teams and gave national exposure to WA talent that might otherwise have gone unnoticed.”
The new series adopted the latest Radical SR3 models and followed global Radical branding guidelines. With Bristow appointed as manager and Radical veteran Stephen Champion offering his experience, the reboot was executed with precision and purpose. Behind the scenes, new investment in media, social engagement and event organisation helped elevate the overall professionalism of the championship.
Professional teams like GWR, Arise, Volante Rosso Motorsport and Geoff Forshaw Motorsport Services joined the grid, while privateer racers also had the opportunity to prepare and campaign their own cars. The result was a diverse, competitive and welcoming paddock that continues to grow, with each round attracting a full grid of entries.
The championship quickly earned a reputation for professionalism. With a five-round calendar integrated into top-tier national motorsport events, including support races for Supercars, SRO SpeedSeries and the Bathurst 6 Hour, the series attracted immediate interest. Thirty-three
‘THERE ARE
ALWAYS MULTIPLE DRIVERS CAPABLE OF TAKING WINS’
drivers scored points in the inaugural 2022 season, and that number has only grown since.
While Radical Cup Australia is a home for amateur and semi-professional racers, it’s also a springboard for young talent. The highly competitive nature of the series allows emerging drivers to test themselves against seasoned veterans and experienced race teams.
In 2024, Peter Paddon lifted the championship trophy following a season-long duel with West Aussie rising star Cooper Cutts. In 2025, three rounds into the season, it’s Cutts who holds the advantage as Arise Racing look to secure their first national Radical title.
“The competition is one of our real strengths,” says Bristow. “There are always multiple drivers capable of taking wins, whether overall or in class. That structure creates opportunities for everyone to succeed at each event.”
But it’s not just the racing that defines the series. The camaraderie in the paddock is something that sets Radical Cup Australia apart. Whether you’re a front-runner or a first-timer, everyone is welcomed and supported.
“Yes, it’s competitive motorsport and it can be intense on track,” Bristow continues, “but when the helmets come off, there’s a great atmosphere. We’ve got a real mix: pro teams with full transporters, privateers running out of a trailer, young guns chasing a career, and experienced racers out there for the pure thrill. That’s what makes this series so special.”
With its blend of professionalism, competition and community spirit, Radical Cup Australia has become a benchmark for one-make racing not just regionally, but globally. The organisers, competitors and teams have built something resilient, respected and ready for the future. As the series continues to evolve, one thing remains clear: Radical Cup Australia is here to stay, and it’s only getting stronger.
ONE MAN’S RADICAL LEGACY: A TRIBUTE TO JOHN MORRIS
John Morris didn’t just build a racetrack, he created a motorsport community. His visionary partnership with Radical helped redefne racing in the US and beyond.
AT THE FOOT OF NEVADA’S DESERT mountains lies a racetrack unlike any other. More than just a strip of tarmac, Spring Mountain Motor Resort and Country Club became a destination; an oasis where motorsport met camaraderie and ambition. At the heart of it all was John Morris, a visionary whose legacy continues to reverberate not just through the paddocks of Nevada, but across Radical’s global network.
John’s passing in May 2025 left an undeniable void in the motorsport world. But what he built, and the partnership he cultivated with Radical, endures – fuelled by a shared spirit of innovation and accessibility.
“John built something very special at Spring Mountain,” says Tom Drewer, Radical Motorsport’s Director for the Americas. “He was creating something more than just a racetrack, it was a motorsport resort, a community. And he understood early on that the cars had to match the vision. That’s where Radical came in.”
John recognized that Radical’s mission, to make high-performance racing accessible to drivers of all levels, aligned perfectly with his own. The SR3, Radical’s then flagship model, became a natural choice for his members: fast, forgiving, and capable of evolving with a driver’s skill.
Spring Mountain owners Brad Rambo and John Morris in 2006
Almost overnight, Spring Mountain became Radical’s largest dealer. But John wasn’t interested in simply selling cars. He embedded Radical into the very DNA of Spring Mountain. From a dedicated service centre to the largest parts inventory outside Radical’s UK factory, and the founding of Powertec America, he ensured Radical customers experienced the brand as a full turnkey solution.
“He helped us set a new standard,” Drewer continues. “His members racked up more Radical mileage than anywhere else in the world. That feedback pushed us to improve and develop new powertrains, the centre-seat option, and ultimately the SR3 1500, which still dominates his paddock today.”
As Morris grew Radical in Nevada, he helped sow its seeds across America. From Apex in Arizona to Autobahn, Spring Mountain’s influence introduced the brand to other motorsport country clubs. His efforts helped launch the Radical Cup North America, now a USAC-sanctioned championship supporting IndyCar, and a training ground for drivers of all ages.
That development pipeline was one of Morris’ proudest legacies. Drivers like John Falb and George Kurtz began their racing journeys at Spring Mountain in SR3s, then climbed the ladder to win championships in Europe and stand on the podium at Le Mans. Their stories are testaments to the unique environment that John built.
When Radical began planning the inaugural Radical World Finals in 2022, there was only ever one venue in mind.
“It had to be Spring Mountain,” says Drewer. “Yes, the Vegas backdrop and Charleston Peak circuit were spectacular, but more than that,
Spring Mountain had become the spiritual home for Radical racing in North America. And John’s embrace of that event, plus his generosity and warmth, encapsulated everything that made our partnership so special.”
Behind the ambition and scale was a man who thrived on big dreams and bold decisions. Like Radical’s own founders, Morris wasn’t afraid to take risks. He believed in what was possible, even when others didn’t. His maverick energy, relentless drive, and commitment to creating extraordinary experiences defined not only Spring Mountain, but helped shape Radical Motorsport throughout the Americas.
“His success has certainly been our success,” Drewer reflects, “and I’d like to think a little bit of Radical’s success helped Spring Mountain along the way too.”
As Radical continues to grow across the Americas, it does so with John Morris’s legacy in its rear-view mirror, and his vision for the future firmly in its sights.

SR1 CUSTOMER VIEW MARCUS LITTLEWOOD: FROM PRIVATEER TO CHAMPION
MARCUS LITTLEWOOD’S ENTRY INTO RADICAL racing came through friendships with former Radical racers and current British Touring Car driver Daryl de Leon and LMP3 driver Theo Micouris, with whom he’d known through college and the karting world. A conversation Marcus had with Theo’s Dad, meant that it opened the door for him to participate in a test day at Donington Park – an experience that sparked a lasting interest. After three sessions that day in the SR1, Marcus was hooked. A few months later, he and his Dad purchased a used SR1 from Radical Cup UK team RSR.
Without the budget to join an established team, Marcus and his family took the bold step of running the car themselves. Their privateer effort, affectionately dubbed the “Dad and Lad” team, proved highly successful – culminating in Marcus winning the 2024 SR1 Championship in the UK. Throughout the season, the Radical paddock played a key role in supporting his efforts. Fellow racers and teams often provided assistance, sharing tools and advice, contributing to the community atmosphere that characterises the series.
Silverstone stood out as a highlight of the season for Marcus, with its iconic sections like Maggots and Becketts offering both a technical challenge and immense enjoyment. Marcus also featured Circuit Paul Ricard among his favourite tracks as well, refecting the international appeal of the Radical series.
The SR1 served as an ideal platform for Marcus to transition from karting to car racing. With rear-wheel drive, downforce and semislick Hankook tyres, and signifcantly, it provided a cost-effective way to learn car control and build confdence at speed. This solid foundation eased his progression to the more powerful SR3 XXR, where increased downforce and full slick Hankook tyres with additional grip bring a whole new level of intensity.
Marcus’s journey is a testament to what can be achieved through determination, mechanical know-how, and family support. By running as a privateer and proving the affordability and competitiveness of the SR1, he is going to continue to inspire karters considering the step into car racing – all while setting his sights on winning the SR3 Championship in 2025.

At its heart lies Radical Performance Engines’ fifth-generation power unit, a 232bhp, biofuelready, 1500cc four-cylinder engine. A 1340cc version is also available for drivers seeking a different performance balance.
Aero and visual updates from the XXR include a striking LMP-inspired central tail fin, fresh LED lighting, and a new wheel design. Optional carbon-fibre aerodynamic components such as the splitter and rear diffuser are available, along with AP Racing’s latest performance brake packages.
Inside the cockpit, the 2025 model debuts a new pre-preg carbon-fibre single centre seat option for solo drivers, as well as Kevlarreinforced twin seat options designed for increased safety and durability in demanding race environments. All seat configurations
integrate with FIA-compliant six-point harnesses for maximum safety.
Driver data and telemetry remain a core focus of the SR3 XXR. AiM Technologies’ Formula-style steering wheel integrates a fully customisable 4.3” LCD display, offering real-time feedback on parameters like gear, RPM, predictive lap times, tyre pressure, brake pressure and more. Up to four data fields can be displayed at once, while optional upgrades include dual camera fitting, tyre temperature sensors and advanced logging for teams and drivers chasing every tenth.
Power is delivered through a six-speed sequential gearbox with paddle-shift and a Quaife limited-slip differential, managed by a Life Racing ECU. The SR3 XXR’s chassis and suspension systems are built to take full advantage of its lightweight (620kg) and aerodynamic grip, offering up to 2.3G of cornering force and sub-blink gear changes.
Whether you’re a privateer chasing podiums or a seasoned competitor aiming for Radical Cup glory, the 2025 SR3 XXR delivers an unmatched combination of pace, feel, and motorsport-grade reliability.
‘The new XXR is a muchwelcomed evolution of the already brilliant SR3.’

JACK YANG: RACE THE WORLD
JACK YANG IS THE DEFINITION OF RADICAL
Motorsport’s #RaceTheWorld initiative –currently competing in the Radical Cup North America, Gulf Radical Cup and the Radical Cup UK throughout the year. The Race the World initiative invites Radical racers from around the world to connect with other Radical Cups and join the grid at any of the iconic racetracks that they compete at.
Jack’s entry into motorsport came in 2021 when he stumbled across a video of Radical setting the Nürburgring lap record in a Radical SR8 in 2009. This then led Jack to purchase a Radical SR3 XX in the US, where he initially focused on track days with Group-A Racing.
The precision and speed of the car made a lasting impression – and soon after, casual track driving turned into a serious ambition for Jack to go racing.
After taking part in a number of events in the US, Jack decided he wanted to begin his move into competitive motorsport. In 2022, he joined the Radical Cup UK with Valour Racing, where he began building experience and developing his race craft against strong national
competition. Today, his calendar spans multiple continents and circuits, refecting a methodical approach to broadening his experience and improving as a driver.
Among the many circuits Jack has raced on, Road America stands out as his personal favourite. It’s long straights, fowing corners, and numerous overtaking opportunities make it an ideal venue for Radical racing. It’s also a circuit where Jack says he tends to perform well on, with the Radical Cup North America having visited the track in June this year.
Jack values the Radical brand for its consistency, responsiveness, and ability to deliver close, competitive racing. He states “the SR3 XXR rewards commitment and precision” – qualities he continues to refne with every outing. In 2024 Jack won the PRO 1500 Gold Title in the Radical Cup North America, having stood on the podium multiple times last season.
As Jack continues to push boundaries and chase podiums, he is not only refning his skills as a driver – he’s also proving that the Radical paddock is truly a global community, united by speed, precision and the love of racing.

PURE EXTREME PERFORMANCE
THE BENCHMARK FOR COMPETITION, MOTORSPORT COUNTRY CLUB AND TRACK-DAY CARS
LOWER RUNNING COSTS FROM A LONG-LIFE 425BHP RPE ENGINE AND HEWLAND GEARBOX
MORE REAL-TIME DATA AND ENHANCED AERO CREATE THE ULTIMATE DRIVER’S CAR
ELIGIBLE TO TAKE PART IN RADICAL RACE SERIES WORLDWIDE
WITH A HIGH-HORSEPOWER, LONG- LIFE powertrain, the Radical SR10 XXR is everything you’d expect from a turbocharged Radical.
Targeted at track-day enthusiasts, motorsport country club members and racers across the globe, the SR10 XXR delivers more power and torque than has ever before featured in Radical’s SR line-up, with an engine and drivetrain package that’s been optimised for both performance and durability.
Whether lapping casually or dicing in an
around-the-clock enduro, the SR10’s sole purpose is to out-run and out-manoeuvre the competition while remaining approachable and cost effective to run.
Demand from Radical’s customers for a turbocharged variant of our legendary SR line of Sports Racers propelled the SR10’s extensive test programme, which continued behind closed doors throughout lockdown. Given the SR platform’s long-standing reputation for providing sensational performance through
optimised aerodynamics and outstanding grip, the primary focus was on maximising both the powertrain’s incredible performance as well as its durability, for easier operation and long service intervals.
The SR10 XXR applies the cutting edge tuning capabilities of Radical Performance Engines (RPE) with the proven durability of Ford’s EcoBoost architecture. This is no ordinary production unit; as Radical’s in house powertrain division, RPE has developed a bespoke turbo,
‘The SR10 is a visceral dream to drive.’
induction and engine-management package to release over 425bhp and 380lb ft of torque. A bespoke Garrett G-Series turbo delivers better throttle response and reduced lag, with forged pistons and connecting rods and a bespoke drysump lubrication system.
This high-output engine is integrated with a new Hewland GT3-derived six-speed gearbox. The SR10 is Radical’s first application of the Hewland TMT transaxle, originally developed for the FIA F2 single-seater. This compact unit includes an integral paddle-shift actuator and innovative WaveTrac ATB diff for maximum traction in all conditions, and perfectly matches the high torque of the 2.3L engine.
The driver’s environment features a wheelmounted LCD multi-page display and additional controls at the driver’s fingertips. This includes multiple engine power and throttle response options, allowing drivers to tailor the overall engine output as well as the throttle feedback to suit different circuits, conditions or personal preferences at a track.
Two years after its first introduction, the XXR upgrade was launched for the SR10. This included updates to the bodywork such as carbon-fibre front louvres and carbon-fibre front splitter and rear diffuser as an option.
In August 2024 several new updates were introduced; a new lightweight flywheel and
clutch provides quicker blip response and smoother downshifts, which in turn reduces rear axle shift-locking and shortens brake zone duration. A new design for the sidepods has further reduced understeer in high-speed corners, while a revised steering rack ratio provides better feedback whilst requiring less effort from the driver. As with the SR3 XXR an all-new pre-preg carbon single seat has been designed in-house, stronger and lighter than its GRP predecessor, and for those who prefer the composite twin seat option strategically placed Kevlar inserts and stronger seat mounts have further enhanced occupant safety whether it’s for track-day or race use.

LOUIS SCHRIBER III - ALL IN, ALL THE TIME
LOUIS SCHRIBER III IS A FAMILIAR NAME IN THE Radical paddock. A former PRO 1340 champion and recipient of the 2018 Jeff Green Memorial Award, he’s now deep in the fght for the 2025 Platinum class title, currently sitting third in the standings with a crucial win at Road America under his belt.
A lifelong motorsport enthusiast, Louis’ early years were spent racing anything with wheels, bikes, motorcycles, snowmobiles, but it wasn’t until much later in life, after establishing a successful career as Founder and CEO of Shorewood Development Group and exclusive franchise owner of Big Blue Swim Schools, that he had the means to chase his racing dreams. A visit to Autobahn Country Club in Joliet, Illinois proved pivotal. There he saw a Radical for the frst time and, after just a few laps in an SR3 with Radical dealer Team Stradale, he was hooked. Despite advice to start with something less powerful like a Miata, Louis dove straight into Radical competition and never looked back.
That same all-or-nothing approach defnes his racing style. At Autobahn, he spent countless hours developing his race craft under the guidance of respected coaches like Peter Dempsey and Victor Franzoni. Alongside local talents such as 2024 Radical Champion and now IndyNXT driver Jordan Missig, Louis quickly transitioned from club racing to the national stage. He’s competed in every class offered -
from the 1340cc SR3 to the 1500 class, and now in the latest turbo-charged SR10 XXR.
For Louis, Radical racing is as much about community as it is about speed. “I go to Road America every year with up to 50 family and friends,” he says. “Every year, they look at me and say ‘Wow, you look happy.’ And I am.” He credits the series for offering unbeatable value, intense competition, and a camaraderie that’s hard to replicate. “To get the same thrill and driver development anywhere else, I’d have to spend ten times more.”
The evolution to the SR10 has been especially rewarding. Known for its demanding nature, Louis embraced both the technical and physical challenges and adapted his driving style to suit. Now with the updated XXR, he feels the car has reached a sweet spot of control, performance, and balance. “It’s made me a calmer, more strategic driver - less emotional, more focused,” he refects. “That’s something I carry into business too.”
As he chases the 2025 title, Louis remains laser-focused. “You know how bad I want this championship,” he admits. With races at Laguna Seca and Road Atlanta ahead, two tracks he knows well, he’s positioned as a real contender. Beyond this season, his plans remain open. “I take it one day at a time. But I can’t ever see myself not racing a Radical at Road America. I’m all in.”
‘I can’t ever see myself not racing a Radical.’

LE MANS EXPERIENCE WITHIN REACH OF NON-PROFESSIONALS
NEW OPTIONAL 719 BHP POWER UPGRADE
OPTIONAL COLOURED CARBON-FIBRE BODYWORK
AVAILABLE IN SPYDER AND GT SPECIFICATION
THE RADICAL RXC BOASTS A STRIKING design that seamlessly blends aerodynamic e ciency with aggressive styling. The closed cockpit is reminiscent of a Le Mans prototype, giving it a fierce and purposeful appearance. The aerodynamics have been meticulously honed to provide optimal downforce and
stability at high speeds, ensuring maximum grip and agility on the track.
The first RXC was completed in January 2013, and along with three other RXC models was used purely for testing and development. The third chassis was used to develop the new Ford GT and went on display as a Ford GT
prototype around the world. In August 2013 the first customer RXC was delivered through Radical France, as a blue left-hand drive car with a 3.7L RPE engine.
The latest incarnation, the RXC 700R, sits at the very top of the range of performance trackday and competition cars for clubman drivers,
RXC
offering an experience that is as close to being a Le Mans racer as you can get without equipping yourself with caffeine tablets and a beginner’s guide to French.
You now get a RPE 3.5-litre twin-turbo V6 delivering 719bhp via a six-speed Hewland paddleshift ’box, LMP2-inspired lightweight glassfibre bodywork and fully adjustable suspension, power steering, pedal box and more, but you can deploy the RXC 700R’s phenomenal performance in a
much more generous closed cockpit.
You can opt for such luxuries as electronically adjustable mirrors, a heated screen and a fullcolour customisable digital dash, but you can also add the optional Bosch anti-lock brakes and Life Racing LMP-derived traction control, as well as air conditioning. Other options you can add include independent brake-pressure logging, individual damper potentiometers and a steeringwheel angle sensor.
With the new option of coloured carbon-fibre bodywork and a lightweight titanium exhaust system, the already-impressive power-to-weight ratio has increased further with the additional horsepower that the 700R upgrade brings.
As Autocar’s Steve Sutcliffe said, the RXC will “fray and obliterate the outer edges of your imagination.” It’s since been refined and honed still further, bringing Le Mans know-how to your fingertips. Time to reset your imagination.
‘As a track toy, there’s nothing like it.’
