Our Logo Belltower - The belltower is our marker in the community. It stands above all around it and people can see it from miles away. The ringing bells in the community calling all to prayer, worship, faith, service and community. The lighted tower is a symbol of light in the darkness. It’s a symbol of tradition, legacy, strength and vitality. Symbolism of the circle - The circle represents the infinity of God and the inclusivity of the universe. It represents the notions of totality and wholeness. We are ONE unified, inclusive parish/school community, always moving forward together.

3 Improper Logo Usage When using our logo with photography, you will need to create a background for the logo to help it separate from the photograph background.
Proper Logo Usage If there is not either a light or dark enough area on the photograph in which the logo can fit and be fully readable, try screening a box of color for a subtle background area. A solid box with a one-color logo pops nicely.
Place our traditional logo into a white circle.

Proper Use of Parish & School Name in Print and Social Media PROPER USE:
1. St. Benedict Parish and Preparatory School (SBPPS) or SBPPS 2. St. Benedict Parish 3. St. Benedict Preparatory School (SBPS) or SBPS 4. St. Ben’s - This version can only be used when addressing a family in a more informal piece of correspondence.
EXAMPLE 1 - Headline and Subhead:
Why Fundraising Matters at St. Benedict Parish and Preparatory School (SBPS) < A
B > Our SBPS School Advisory Board deliberately sets tuition below the cost of
educating our students to ensure a quality Catholic education is accessible to a broad spectrum of families.
EXAMPLE 2 - Body Copy:
There is a gap between the tuition St. Benedict Preparatory School charges and the full cost of educatingeach child. That gap is on average approximately $850 per C> student. Fundraising is purposely used to close that gap in the annual SBPS school budget. A. Used in a headline ALWAYS spell out the full title of the Parish and School. B. When used in a subhead, always spell out the full title and include the acronym in parenthesis. C. When used in body copy, always spell out the full title and include the acronym in parenthesis the FIRST time. After that, you only need to use the acronym. IMPROPER USE IN A SENTENCE:
Come and see what St. Benedict’s has to offer! PROPER USE IN A SENTENCE:
Come and see what St. Benedict Preparatory School has to offer!

Taking a Good Photo When taking a photo, it is important to keep in mind how the photo will be used. Is the photo for print or web? Is this an editorial photo, or promotional? Serious or care-free? Candid or staged? Next time you are charged with taking a photo for use in one of St. Benedict’s many communication vehicals (Bulletin, Block, Buzz, newsletters, posters, etc.), consider the audience and the end use. Focus on the subject of your photo and zoom in. Or catch a larger experience and zoom out. And keep in mind that it may take a couple of shots to get your perfect image! Also, proper resolution is important or you may wind up with a fuzzy photo. 300 dpi at actual size is always a sure bet.*
Photo taken for bulletin: Spotlight on the Teacher Soft Focus filtered applied to background in Adobe Photoshop *Photos can be used at 72 dpi (dots per inch) for web use only. When taking a photo for printed materials, always make sure your image is at least 300 dpi at actual size. EXAMPLE: If your image needs to print at approx. an 8-1/2” X 11” final size, please make sure that your camera is set to photograph at 300 dpi and at 8” X 10” at minimum size.

Architecture can be dramatic when taken at the right angle
Photo taken on the 1st day of Kindergarten. Don’t be afraid to ask your subject to look at the camera and smile!
Beauty can be seen in the most arbitrary and mundane things. Watch how the light catches form and take your shot!
Catching action and expression is not always easy. You might need to take a few shots to get THE one!
