Welcome everyone to our celebration of Gala 2020! This celebration is the result of a lot of hard work and many long hours by each of the individuals on the committee. Thanks to their dedication and effort, we are gathering once again to enjoy each other’s company, and to support St. Benedict Preparatory School’s educational ministry. We greatly appreciate your willingness to be here and build up our school. It allows us to continue working on improving our school programing. But it also makes all of us who work here feel supported and cared about. It tells us that you agree with how we are moving forward and want us to continue to be the best we can be for the students and families. This past year we received the 2019 National Blue Ribbon Award, which tells us that the Federal Department of Education has recognized on a national level all the hard work done to develop a top-quality school. In addition, Rachel Gemo, our Head of Parish School received the prestigious Lead, Learn, and Proclaim Award from the NCEA. This award reminds us of the quality of the leadership in our parish school. We have so much to celebrate here. Still, we cannot rest on our achievements. These awards will spur us on to redouble our efforts to offer the best school ministry we can. We are more than just a school; we are a Catholic school. We are founded on a vision of the value and worth of each person, which was given to us by Christ. We look to develop that sense of personal value and desire to do our best in everyone who considers St. Benedict our home. Tonight, I hope everyone has a great time and enjoys himself or herself at this Gala Fundraiser. Our school, which we are here to celebrate, is very important and worth supporting. Our families, faculty, support staff, and administration are all a great gift that we want to build up and acclaim. Again, thank you for being here tonight and a special thank you to the committee for all their work.

Dear Friends of St. Benedict Parish and Preparatory School, We are dressed up! The table is set! We are ready for a fun night…in our homes! It’s the 2020 Blue Ribbon Gala. I hope you’ve got your ZOOM invite, your computer logged in and electronic bidder paddle ready. Even though we are not together in one room tonight, we are together in Blue Ribbon spirit. I hope you are ready for a unique celebration to raise much needed funds for our parish school. We are blessed to be together VIRTUALLY once again for the 19th Annual Gala for St. Benedict Preparatory School. This year’s theme, Blue Ribbon Gala 2020, reminds us that we are blessed to have a NATIONALLY recognized school for academic excellence. St. Benedict Preparatory School is an extraordinary community blessed by God’s love, and the continued growth and improvement of the school is a testimony to the fact that hundreds of people believe in our faith-filled mission. Building a National Blue Ribbon School takes dedication and support from many generous people. We are grateful to the school parents, parishioners, alumni, family members, friends and community guests who display a tremendous sense of generosity. And we have fun in the process! The proceeds of this Gala, our biggest fundraiser, gives the school the capacity to offer an excellent, well-rounded Catholic education for the 670+ students who attend. For this continued display of tremendous giving, I thank you all very much! Last year’s Gala raised over $190,000 – Tonight, let’s do it again!!! I want to extend my most heartfelt gratitude to our donors, volunteers and supporters. Especially, I would like to thank Gala Co-Chairs, Laura Burns, Isabelle Ryan, and Linda Wolf. Their generous dedication, leadership and support is so essential! Also, I would like to thank the members of the Gala Committee who have given so much support to make this event happen. They have given more than anyone could ever ask, and their talented leadership has paved the way for the new committee members to take hold of the reigns next year. Please enjoy this evening! Dear Parishioners, Parents, Faculty, Staff and Friends of St. Benedict, Welcome to the 2020 St. Benedict Blue Ribbon Gala! This year’s event is certainly not what we were planning…a festive evening at Rockwell on the River but, despite the inability to be together in person, we have an exciting multi-day event in store and are excited about our offerings. At the end of the day, this is all about our children so thank you all for joining together to support and celebrate the continued educational excellence our children receive while attending St. Benedict. This parish and school only work when we come together for the greater good. A school is only as strong as the families who support it and we truly appreciate all the support you have all shown as we prepared for this year’s event. Learn Fearlessly. At St. Benedict, our children have the ability to use their God-given gifts to partner with faculty and staff, and parents, to become the creators and contributors of tomorrow. Lead Responsibly. St. Benedict faculty and staff exemplify a commitment to inclusive and rigorous challenge which creates a dynamic, innovative and active learning experience in which the needs of the whole student are met. Serve Joyfully. A welcoming and supportive community with Christ at our center. Our Gala Committee has exemplified these traits as we pivoted from an in-person to virtual event. Even in today’s virtual world, this was no small challenge to achieve in a relatively short time-frame! But they all know the good that can come from supporting the mission of St. Benedict. We want to personally thank every committee member for his and her time, effort and contributions in making the Gala possible this year and unique this year. We continue to foster a spirit of stewardship throughout the St. Benedict community while still achieving important fundraising goals. Because of the Committee’s work and your support, we have succeeded on both counts. We would not be virtually all together without the amazing support of the great parishioners, parents, staff, teachers, and students of St. Benedict. The guidance, work and support of Fr. Stephen, Rachel Gemo, Joe Accardi and our understanding spouses have led the way for all of us on the Committee, and we cannot thank them enough for it. So in turn we: • base tuition on what it actually costs to educate a child • provide financial assistance to families who demonstrate need, and • ask families who can afford the cost of this education to pay full tuition or at least contribute the difference in costs between parishioner tuition and the per-pupil cost by participating in our fundraising appeals. Due to this unusual pandemic season, we have seen the need to support more families who normally do not receive financial assistance in order to maintain their enrollment at St. Benedict Prep. This year’s Fund-A-Need will go to support our community with a goal of $30,000. We hope you will be generous to help out others who wish to remain and benefit from the excellent academic program provided by St. Benedict Parish. THANK YOU!
