Here, 11 screens with 1475 seats screen mainstream films, as well as independent and foreign films. The hand-stitched seats made of plush leather add comfort. This location is anticipated to be the first LEED certified cinema in Florida and one of less than 10 nationwide. It includes a Bright White ENERGY STAR rated roof, low flow plumbing, specialized lighting and other structures that help to do everything from minimize flooding and redirecting water to keeping the structure cool in an environmental way. Ol i v er Ro b i n s Tal ks Polt er geist & mor e By Rachel Gal vin The new version of "Poltergeist," directed by Gil Kenan, just was released May 22 bringing a revamped version of the ghost story to a new audience. But the original 1982 version, directed by Tobe Hooper and produced by Steven Spielberg, was and still is a classic. It starred JoBeth Williams, Craig T. Nelson, Heather O'Rourke, Dominique Dunne and Oliver Robins as the Freeling family. Today, Oliver Robins is a director in his own right, as well as a screenwriter, and continues to be an actor. In fact, he will be in a new horror film soon. But, he still is remembered for his performance in "Poltergeist." He talked with I.S. about his memories of being on set. Robins, who was only 10 years old when he was in "Poltergeist," said, "I never wanted to go home and I had to because of the child labor laws. I hung out and watched, and they welcomed me. JoBeth Williams took me under her wing." He grew up on the set, he said, and there was plenty of fun. 5 "There were watergun fights; the prop guys gave me

remote control cars and even let me put toys in the scene, but they never ended up in the movie." He added, "I think the thing they liked about me was how comfortable I was in front of the camera. I would ask JoBeth what I should do. You have to pull all your emotions into one moment. She said, 'Run in place, get out of breath,' or she would talk to me about the scene. It was incredibly valuable. "Tobe doesn't say a lot when he's directing. He's not one of these directors who over-directs, who gives you line readings or tells you hit this spot, turn your head two inches and then look to the camera. He created shots in such a way that let me be very free and open. That freedom allowed me to experiment. He would guide me; he would say certain key things based on the story he wanted to tell, so Tobe would talk about the fear in my eyes or what I am going to be scared of or what's going on, and he made me forget there was 80 people standing around. It was just me in that moment being terrified. I have to credit his direction for allowing me to give that free-flowing of a performance for someone who had almost no experience acting." His character, Robbie Freeling, had many scary experiences. One memorable moment included a tree coming in through the window, attacking him and swallowing him. Since there wasn't CGI back then, he explained how they created that scene, saying they built a series of trees, each used for different effect. One for far exterior shot, looking imposing; another with arms used to grab him; another just the base of the tree, swallowing him. He explained that moment, saying, "[When the tree swallowed me,] they put me in a platform inside the tree and said just lower yourself and pretend you are being swallowed, so there was really nothing to it. All those sequences took approximately two weeks to do. On screen, it's probably not more than 30-40 seconds of screen time." He added, "I had never done stunts. But I was a rough and tumble

kind of kid. I didn't mind having sugar glass shot at me. We had a fantastic stunt coordinator named Glenn Randall [Jr.], he said Oliver, you want to cover your eyes like this when they shoot the sugar glass at you, bend down like this. He made sure I was safe. I took that to heart. You always want to put your actors first, never put them at risk." The cast, he said, did not know what the ghosts were going to look like when they were shooting the scene. "ILM [Industrial Light & Magic] didn't know what the ghosts were going to look like [at the time]," he said. "I asked Tobe, 'What am I so terrified of?' He said, 'We don't know yet. But it's the scariest thing you could think of.' They gave us an eye line off camera and they'd wave sticks and we'd be looking at them and we'd bring up inside ourselves the scariest thing we could think of. I was scared of ghosts and always thought there was something under my bed, so that is what I was thinking of; so, I was able to pull that up and emote and they got some good moments from me." When asked if he had nightmares after shooting the film, he said, "No, I was thrilled and so excited to be in it. When I initially saw the film, I jumped. I knew it was going to happen and I still was terrified." Four year later, in 1986, Robins was asked to come back and do "Poltergeist II." He was overjoyed, not only to rejoin the cast who had become like a family to him, but to get away from being in school; but the reason was not to escape academic rigor. He explained, "I couldn't wait to come back. At that time in my life, people would [say] you must have been [treated like] a star. Actually, it was the exact opposite. I was bullied like everyday. I was thrown in a trash can almost every other day. I got nauseous going to school. I couldn't wait to get out of 8th grade. I loved my classes, but hated the kids. It was a godsend when they said, 'Let's do Poltergeist II.' "I had to do all my classes. I was going to this little prep school in Los Angeles. It was pretty intense in terms of academics. I was taking Algebra finals on set. The school worked with my on-set teacher. On movie sets, a child is required to have three hours of schooling."

Regarding rejoining the cast, he said, "We became a family again. We had been apart for all those years, but we picked up where we left off." When talking about "Poltergeist," people inevitably bring up the supposed "Poltergeist Curse." Four of the actors in the "Poltergeist" trilogy died within a 6-year period. Dunne was killed by her ex-boyfriend. O'Rourke died during surgery for the removal of a bowel blockage. Julian Beck who played the 'bad spirit' in Poltergeist II, died of stomach cancer. Will Sampson, who played the 'good spirit' in Poltergeist II, died after receiving a heart-lung transplant. Robins said, "I always choke up thinking about it. Dominique and Heather were wonderful human beings. I always wonder who Heather would have grown up to be. Heather talked about being a filmmaker herself. She was very precocious, very bright. I lost touch with her after the sequel so I wasn't privy what was going on with her health. Dominque was 21 when she did 'Poltergeist.' I just don't understand how that could possibly happen. We used to carpool with her, pick her up from her place in 6 Beverly Hills. She was such a bright lady too. "

When asked about his feelings on the new remake of "Poltergeist," he said, "I'm excited to see the new rendition of 'Poltergeist.' It's flattering to be in a film that has been remade and cements its moment in '80s cinematic history. It truly reminds us all of how special the original film is, and it will always will be in the hearts of filmgoers and critics alike." In addition to the "Poltergeist" films, he also was involved in another classic, the comedy "Airplane 2." This film allowed him to to be more over-the-top than "Poltergeist," in which he needed to be as real as possible. "I had so much fun. As a kid, I was a real ham. I love the pie in the face. I was sitting in this chair. They said, 'We've built this mechanism. Sit forward and the pie is going to go straight in your face.' I loved it." He added that the film had almost no Improv. "It was all comic timing. It was very specific. You had to hit certain beats to make the joke work." "I loved 'Airplane' more than anything. My agent called me and said, 'They're holding auditions. I read for the producer and director. Within a week, I got the part. It was such a dream come true." When asked if he still keeps in touch with Producer Steven

Spielberg, he said, "Yes. He's a great guy. He gives me a holiday gift every year. I still look up to him as a father figure. I still call him Mr. Spielberg. I have the greatest respect for him. He's the best. There are people on par I guess in some ways; but, in terms of his storytelling and movies he's Ol iver Robins and I.S. f ounder Rachel Gal vin made, those are the kinds of movies I want to make." He added, "On the set of 'Poltergeist,' I was inspired to be a filmmaker. Spielberg actually loaned me a Super 8 camera, a French camera called a Beaulieu. I don't know if they still make them today. You could wind the film back, do double exposure. It was very versatile. I made this claymation film called "The Day Pac-Man Ate the Earth. Pac-Man attacks the Earth and Miss Pac-Man saves him. I showed it to him. He said, 'Keep at it. Keep making films.' He looked at my films as I was getting older. I said, 'What do I do now? I am 18.' He said, 'Go to film school.' I said, 'Where?' He said, "USC Film School.' I applied. I worked hard in school. It was hard to get in. That is why I gave up acting because I had to focus on my studies. I got in and that's where I met the people I work with today. It was a fantastic program. You get a chance to work in every position." Robins did go on to make a lot of independent films, including "29,ooo Wishes. 1 Regret," which is about a couple who runs out of money after the Great Recession and decides to kill themselves, but to live life with reckless abandon with their last amount of funds. He also wrote a TV movie with the Hallmark channel called "You've Got a Friend," starring John Schneider, about a 12-year-old orphan who has a dream of becoming a soap box racer and ends up being mentored by an ex soap box champ, a vet from Vietnam who needs to learn how to love. These are just a few of his projects and he now has written a horror film that he is slated to act in as well, but he cannot give any information about it just yet. Hiroshima. Brief sections of the novel by Yosh Golden (Kazuko Golden?s mother) have been previously published. This is the first year Kazuko Golden (Producer and Co-Director) has attended and had a film accepted into Cannes du Marche. The film has received a number of festival accolades to-date. Attention has been particularly drawn to how Golden's film touches on the historic relocation of Japanese Americans along the west coast prior to America's war strategy to drop the Atom Bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The central focus is on a woman in the camps who is writing home to family in Japan as a source of hope and inspiration.

struggled w ith this and to remove the veil on this mysterious condition, to educate others about it and help remove the stigma and the silence. Their production helps to uncover disconnects within the medical community to effectively screen, refer and treat these women. One in seven women will experience a pregnancy and Postpartum mood and anxiety disorder, and one in 1000 will suffer from postpartum psychosis. However, it is the one condition most often under-diagnosed by care providers. Forty percent of women tackle their depression with self medication, including drinking or taking drugs. The news broadcasts about women who harm themselves or their children. This is a serious issue. "It's supposed to be easy. It's supposed to be natural. We're supposed to love every single minute of motherhood and never have any needs of our own and certainly never ask for help. I grew up in a generation of June Cleaver as the icon and pinnacle of motherhood," said Annette Cycon, who now is the founder of Mother Woman, a group in Massachussetts that seeks to help women dealing with PPD. Fura added, " I suffered badly with my pregnancy with my first son. I slipped into a severe depression and had terrible OCD intrusive thoughts. I saw 29 care providers in California before I got the help I needed. I thought, what is happening? Am I the only one who experiences this and am I the only one who tried to get help and not receive it? I wondered if this is what happened to moms I had heard about on the news who have done terrible things to their children or themselves? I wondered if they had asked for help and then were told, like me, to be happy they were having a baby? "My family moved, I was in Miami and was pregnant with my second son and I was appalled that at my first OB

This New York born icon made her mark starting out working for "Women's Wear Daily" and ended up working in interior design after studying art. She and her husband Carl owned a textile firm and she worked on several design restoration projects, including working for nine presidents in the White House, from Truman to Clinton. She has her own line of costume jewelry on the Home Shopping Network (HSN). She has developed a capsule collection with M.A.C. cosmetics and can be seen as the model during the campaign. Spooky Empire held its annual May-Hem horror convention in Orlando, FL May 15 -17. This year The Women?s International Film & Arts Festival (WIFF) is featured guests like Ernie the leading international cultural event featuring films, Hudson ("Ghostbusters") Brad visual and performance arts produced by and about Dourif, Kathy Najimy, Phil women. More than 75 films by women around the world Anselmo (Pantera) and Lana will be featured. Parrilla (Once Upon a Time). WIFF, founded by Yvonne McCormack-Lyons, attracts Guests love to dress up for industry and audience participants from around the this event and even world to empower and celebrate women?s voices and participate in the costume contest. On Sunday, May 17, Joe?s Stone Crab in Miami, FL was filled with guests attending the Little Dreams Foundation (LDF) Brunch, hosted by Phil and Orianne Collins. Among the guests in attendance were DJ Irie, Alejandro Sanz and Romero Britto. The brunch showcased performances of many involved with the Little Dreams Foundation and was hosted by celebrity sound technologist, David Frangioni. Performances included two members of LDF, Biana and Luisa, as well as the band What You Know featuring Phil Collin's son, Nicholas. The Little Dreams Foundation helps underprivileged children obtain music lessons, career direction and mentoring at a time when they need it most.

Evil I nt ent ions Evil Intentions is a gripping, nail biting thriller with so many twists and turns the audience will have to wait with baited breath for the reveal. "Evil Intentions'" writer Michael Mclaren is also a seasoned actor in the United States and United Kingdom. He wrote this film following the success of his TV pilot "Cupcake," released in 2013. Mclaren is casting and filming in Florida and currently has his crew working on B-Roll. His crew is in pre-production and has already chosen locations. They plan to go into full production in September 2015. This film is the much-awaited sequel to the hit classic "Boys from Brazil." It opens in San Paulo, Brazil in 1969. Josef Mengele (the "angel of death") discovers that his right-hand man, Kessler, had stolen a secret vile that would wipe out mankind, except those who are pure Aryan. In ill heath, Mengele clones himself. He is not only determined to succeed in purification of mankind, but track down Kessler and destroy him. 21 The movie transitions into 2015. Bodies wash up in the Miami

River with similar body carvings as those washed up in the river Thames in London. This prompts Michael Carter, a Scotland Yard detective, to cross the pond in search of answers.

Fl orida f il mmakers make Christ ian Fil m 168 Film is a special film festival that focuses on Christian films. Filmmakers have a week to create a film around a Bible verse that they are given. Florida-based producer Rose Warner decided to gather together a large group of over 40 people to make this possible, shooting their film, "Robin's Glove," in Deerfield Beach, FL. Directed by Andrew Souza, this sentimental short film, which they completed in May, is about redemption and forgiveness, and brings the family together, clearing the bondage of emotional and financial debt.
