Aidan McGarry Racecourse Manager

The team at Naas Racecourse is delighted to welcome you to our Christmas Party Raceday, our final race meeting of the year. As we look back at the year, a huge thank you goes to everyone who supported the racecourse throughout the flat and jump seasons. From the owners and trainers who continue to bring top-class horses to the track, and to all our loyal racegoers who bring that unique Naas race day atmosphere. We are so appreciative of everyone who supports us and we look forward to doing it all over again in 2026!
Eddie Moran Owner Liaison
We are delighted to offer you eight races on today’s card and this meeting quite often throws up some potentially smart runners. Last season we saw subsequent Cheltenham winner Lecky Watson in action and I am sure that many from today will progress into Grade 1 contests in the winter and spring festivals. I am delighted to welcome Bar One Racing back as a sponsor today, Barney O’Hare and his team are great supporters of Naas Racecourse and having recently launched their new branding, we wish the whole Bar One team all the best for the coming year.
We are pleased to host one of the new Academy Hurdles, an excellent initiative by the Irish EBF, whose continued commitment to the future of the breed and to enhancing prizemoney is greatly appreciated. We are also delighted to welcome back Care at Home Services. A constant presence throughout the year at Naas, they are an excellent business and a pleasure to work with, offering an extensive range of vital services to the community.
All members at Naas Racecourse are entered into a draw to win a race named in their honour and this year we’re delighted that to welcome Sean Kelly as the lucky recipient today. We hope you and your family have a brilliant day Sean and enjoy lunch and making the presentation in the parade ring for your race. The Naas Racecourse membership is full of perks and a great gift, you can purchase today in the raceday office. It is fantastic value if you are a regular racegoer here at Naas Racecourse or it makes the perfect Christmas present for a racing fan!
As ever, our caterers Lily & Wild will be serving up lots of tasty options in The Post self-service Restaurant and the Café on the ground floor of The Grandstand. There will be a bar available on the ground floor of The Circle building.
Finally, we are only a few weeks away from our feature jumps raceday of the year, the Ballymore Novice Hurdle Grade 1 Day on January 4th. We are thrilled to welcome Ballymore as the new title sponsor on the day, and as well as great racing we also have lots of entertainment on the day. One lucky racegoer will walk away with €10,000 on the day – a free to enter sweepstakes for all racegoers. We will also be hosting our Winter Best Dress Competition, the winner will land an exceptional prize that includes a €2,000 Frasers gift voucher to spend at their Whitewater Shopping Centre store, and they will also enjoy a fabulous two-night stay for two at the four-star, Kilkea Castle in Co. Kildare. We will also have live music after racing as well as lots more. Book early and save! Tickets are just €15 until 22nd December.
We look forward to welcoming you in January but in the meantime, please enjoy your today and I hope you and your family have a Merry Christmas and a Happy & Healthy New Year.

Willie Mullins has won four of the last six renewals of this contest and he runs three here. Paul Townend prefers the chances of the smart novice hurdler FUNICULI FUNICULA and this looks a nice starting point for him over fences. His stablemate King Alexander may provide most resistance, though this ground may not be ideal for him. Prends Garde A Toi has an each-way chance based on his promising chasing debut at Galway. Not much worthwhile chase form here, so the safest choice would seem to be BALLINABOOLA JET, a recent handicap hurdle scorer at Clonmel. The veteran Dontdooddson has won twice over fences and has shown plenty of life over hurdles this year. Hill has fair recent form but might prefer a longer trip and better ground. Selection RITZ PLAN
Despite having unseated his rider on his first two starts I’m All In has to be taken seriously. However, slight preference is for RITZ PLAN, who failed to run to market expectations in the Navan race in which the Elliott runner exited at the fourth. Ann Bulkley may get closer to the selection than at Punchestown. Rosarian migth prove best of the newcomers. [Alan Sweetman]

Selection RAISE YOU UP
Hard to know what to make of the Mullins pair here. However, the signs are that LARZAC was much more highly rated than Lincoln Du Seuil last winter, and he may prove good enough to score here. Another French import, Nirisque, could feature too. Others to consider are bumper winner Susie Lenglen and two who have finished second over hurdles, Open Secret, Bergamasquo [Alan Sweetman]

At every meeting there are specially qualified equine veterinary surgeons on duty to look after the well-being of all the horses racing. There is a vet in attendance at the start of each race who follows the horses throughout the race and is quickly on hand if a casualty occurs. It is normal procedure to erect screens around any horse receiving veterinary treatment. This allows the veterinary surgeon some privacy to fully assess the horses’ injuries and racegoers should not assume the worst if screens are erected around an injured horse. The Blue Cross ambulance is always present to transport the horse back to the stable yard for further treatment if necessary. A secondary veterinary surgeon is in attendance in the stable yard to assess and treat any horse requiring such attention post race. The horses’ welfare is always our priority.

This race revolves around the unbeaten top class bumper performer BAMBINO FEVER. Yet to taste defeat, she is sure to have been well schooled ahead of her hurdling debut and she should be hard to beat. Impressive Listed Navan bumper winner Oldschool Outlaw has a race fitness edge and may be the one to benefit if the selection fluffs her lines. A few of these have claims. Burning Ability should be in the mix if handling this softer ground but that’s not guaranteed so preference is for SPRINGS STEEN who caught the eye finishing off his race nicely on testing ground at Navan last month. Of Land And Sea and Lennon Grove are closely matched on Thurles running and they can go well if coping with softer ground. The debutant King Idaho needs checking in the market.
