Sport and Diversity in Canada explores the complex relationship between sport, culture, and social diversity within the Canadian context. This course examines how race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, disability, and socioeconomic status shape and are shaped by participation and representation in Canadian sport. Through historical and contemporary case studies, students analyze issues of inclusion, marginalization, and social change, considering how sport can both reflect and challenge broader societal inequalities. Emphasis is placed on Indigenous perspectives, immigrant communities, and policy initiatives aimed at fostering equity and access in sport across Canada.
