Course Introduction
Sociology for Non-Majors introduces students to the foundational concepts, theories, and methods of sociology, providing a comprehensive overview of how society shapes individuals and how individuals, in turn, shape society. This course covers key topics such as socialization, culture, social stratification, institutions, deviance, and social change, with an emphasis on applying sociological perspectives to everyday life. Designed for students in fields outside of sociology, the course encourages critical thinking about issues like inequality, identity, group dynamics, and the impact of social structures on various communities.
