This course explores the foundational skills, values, and knowledge necessary for effective social work practice with individuals and families. Students will learn to engage, assess, and intervene in diverse contexts, employing culturally competent, evidence-based approaches. Key topics include developing therapeutic alliances, understanding family dynamics, conducting strength-based assessments, and implementing intervention strategies tailored to unique familial and individual needs. Emphasis is placed on ethical decision-making, advocacy, empowerment, and the role of the social worker in promoting social justice and well-being within both micro and macro systems.
