This course explores the intersection of social work practice and human sexuality, examining the ways in which sexuality influences and is influenced by individual, familial, and societal factors. Students will gain an understanding of diverse sexual identities, orientations, behaviors, and the impacts of stigma, discrimination, and oppression related to sexuality. The course covers affirmative and inclusive approaches to working with clients across the lifespan, as well as ethical, legal, and policy considerations. Students will develop critical skills for effective and culturally sensitive social work practice, enabling them to support clients in navigating sexual health, relationships, and sexual rights within various contexts.
