This course examines the roots, dimensions, and consequences of social inequality in contemporary societies. Students will explore how unequal distributions of wealth, power, status, and opportunity are structured by factors such as class, race, ethnicity, gender, and globalization. The course integrates sociological theories with empirical research to analyze the mechanisms that produce and sustain disparities within and between groups. Through case studies and critical discussions, students will assess the social impact of inequality on communities and individuals, as well as policy responses aimed at promoting social justice and equity.
