This course explores the fundamental processes of social and emotional development in children from infancy through adolescence. It examines key theories and research findings related to the formation of emotional regulation, attachment, self-concept, and peer relationships. Students will analyze the influence of family, culture, and educational settings on childrens social and emotional growth, and consider typical and atypical pathways of development. Emphasis is placed on understanding how social and emotional skills impact learning, behavior, and mental health, as well as strategies for supporting positive development in diverse contexts.
