Course Introduction
Radiation Biology explores the interactions between ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and living organisms at the molecular, cellular, and whole-body levels. The course covers the fundamental principles of radiation physics, the mechanisms of radiation-induced biological damage, cellular response and repair mechanisms, and the effects of radiation on DNA and other cellular components. Students will study dose-response relationships, radiation carcinogenesis, genetic effects, and the principles of radiation protection. The course also examines applications in medicine, such as radiation therapy, as well as environmental and occupational radiation exposure, providing a foundation for safe and effective practices in various scientific and healthcare settings.
