Psychopharmacology Review Questions
Course Introduction
Psychopharmacology is the scientific study of how drugs affect mood, behavior, cognition, and mental processes through their actions on the nervous system. This course explores the mechanisms of action, therapeutic uses, side effects, and abuse potentials of major classes of psychoactive drugs, including antidepressants, antipsychotics, anxiolytics, stimulants, and hallucinogens. Students will gain a foundational understanding of neurochemical pathways involved in psychiatric disorders and learn how pharmacological agents are used in their treatment. Emphasis is placed on integrating neuroscience with clinical applications, ethical considerations, and recent research advances in the field.
