The Psychology of Aging explores the cognitive, emotional, and social changes that occur as individuals age. This course examines theories and scientific findings related to memory, intelligence, personality, mental health, and adaptation processes in later life. Students will analyze the biological, cultural, and environmental factors that influence aging, consider challenges such as ageism, chronic illness, dementia, and loss, and discuss coping strategies, resilience, and interventions that promote successful aging. The course prepares students to understand and support the aging population within diverse societal and cultural contexts.
