Course Introduction
Principles of Pharmacology provides a comprehensive introduction to the foundational concepts of how drugs interact with biological systems. The course covers the mechanisms of drug action, pharmacokinetics (absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion), pharmacodynamics, adverse drug reactions, drug interactions, and the factors influencing individual responses to medications. Emphasis is placed on understanding the molecular and physiological basis of drug actions, the rationale for drug use in medical treatment, and the principles guiding drug development and regulation. This course prepares students for advanced studies in clinical pharmacology, pharmacy, medicine, and related health sciences.
