This course provides students with comprehensive knowledge and practical skills in phlebotomy, the practice of drawing blood for laboratory testing, transfusions, donations, or research. Students will learn about the anatomy and physiology of the circulatory system, infection control procedures, specimen collection techniques, patient identification and safety, and equipment handling. The course also covers topics such as quality assurance, legal and ethical considerations, and effective communication with patients. Through a combination of lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on laboratory practice, students are prepared to perform venipuncture and capillary punctures competently according to industry standards.
