Periodontology is the branch of dentistry focused on the study, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of diseases affecting the supporting structures of the teeth, including the gums, periodontal ligament, and alveolar bone. This course covers the anatomy and physiology of periodontal tissues, the etiology and pathogenesis of periodontal diseases, methods for clinical assessment, and contemporary therapeutic strategies. Students will gain knowledge in both non-surgical and surgical periodontal therapies, the role of periodontal health in systemic conditions, and strategies for patient education and maintenance to promote long-term oral health.
