Observational Astronomy is an introductory course designed to provide students with the foundational skills necessary to study celestial objects and phenomena using telescopes and other astronomical instruments. The course covers essential topics such as night sky navigation, telescope operation, photometry, spectroscopy, CCD imaging, and data analysis techniques. Students will gain practical experience through hands-on observing sessions, learning how to record and interpret astronomical data, analyze light from stars and galaxies, and assess the effects of atmospheric conditions on observations. By the end of the course, students will understand the processes through which astronomers gather and analyze information about the universe from ground-based observations.
