Minority Groups in America examines the historical and contemporary experiences of racial, ethnic, and cultural minority groups within the United States. The course explores the social, political, and economic factors that have shaped the lives and identities of diverse populations, including African Americans, Latino/a/x communities, Native Americans, Asian Americans, and others. Through an interdisciplinary lens, students will analyze issues such as immigration, systemic inequality, identity formation, activism, and the impact of public policies on minority groups. Emphasis is placed on understanding patterns of discrimination and resistance, as well as the contributions and challenges faced by these communities in American society.
