Medical Instrumentation focuses on the principles, design, and operation of devices used for diagnosis, monitoring, and treatment within healthcare settings. The course covers the fundamentals of sensors, transducers, biomedical signal acquisition, patient safety, and interfacing medical equipment with computer systems. Students will explore regulatory standards, calibration techniques, and the application of common medical instruments such as ECG, EEG, pulse oximeters, ventilators, and infusion pumps. Emphasis is placed on understanding the engineering challenges in the development of reliable and accurate biomedical devices, as well as the ethical considerations in the use of technology in medicine.
