Law and Society explores the complex relationship between legal systems and the broader social forces that shape, and are shaped by, law. The course examines how laws emerge from social needs and values, how they influence behavior and social order, and how they are interpreted, applied, and challenged within different cultures and communities. Through interdisciplinary perspectives including sociology, anthropology, and political science students analyze topics such as justice, inequality, power dynamics, and the impact of law on everyday life, encouraging critical reflection on the role of law in promoting social change and maintaining social control.
