Course Introduction
Geriatric Nutrition explores the unique nutritional needs and challenges faced by older adults. The course examines age-related physiological changes affecting nutrient absorption, metabolism, and appetite, as well as the impact of chronic diseases and polypharmacy on nutritional status. Students will learn to assess nutritional risk, design appropriate dietary interventions, and support healthy aging through evidence-based strategies. Topics include nutrient requirements, common dietary concerns, malnutrition, supplementation, and the role of nutrition in preventing and managing age-associated health conditions.
