Exceptional Learners is a course designed to explore the diverse needs, characteristics, and educational strategies pertinent to students with exceptionalities, including those with disabilities and those identified as gifted and talented. The course examines the legal, social, and instructional aspects of special education, provides insight into individualized education plans (IEPs), and discusses the roles of educators, families, and support services in fostering an inclusive learning environment. Learners will gain an understanding of various exceptionalities and develop practical skills for differentiating instruction, promoting advocacy, and supporting academic and social success for all students.
