This course explores the development of European art from the Renaissance through to the present day, examining major movements, artists, and works that have shaped the Western artistic tradition. Students will analyze the cultural, political, and technological factors that influenced art production and aesthetics, beginning with the innovations of the Renaissance and tracing the evolution of styles through Baroque, Neoclassicism, Romanticism, Modernism, and Contemporary Art. Emphasis is placed on visual analysis, the interpretation of meaning and context, and the ongoing dialogue between art and society, enabling students to gain a comprehensive understanding of the dynamic history of European visual culture.
