This course offers an in-depth exploration of ethnographic research methods and the practice of fieldwork within the social sciences. Students will learn to design, conduct, and analyze ethnographic studies, employing participant observation, interviews, and other qualitative techniques to gain insights into the cultural practices and social dynamics of diverse communities. Emphasis will be placed on the ethical challenges, reflexivity, and practical considerations inherent in immersive fieldwork, as well as on the interpretation and presentation of ethnographic data. Through readings, hands-on projects, and critical discussion, students will develop the skills necessary to conduct independent field research and to critically engage with ethnographic texts.
