Course Introduction
Environmental Geology is an interdisciplinary course that explores the interactions between humans and the geologic environment. Topics include natural hazards such as earthquakes, volcanoes, floods, and landslides; the management of earth resources like water, minerals, and fossil fuels; and the impact of human activities on earth systems. Students will examine case studies to understand how geological processes influence environmental policies, land use planning, and sustainable development, as well as how to mitigate and adapt to geologic hazards within the context of environmental stewardship.
