Early American History Exam Review

Course Introduction

This course explores the foundations and evolution of American society from pre-Columbian times through the era of Reconstruction. Students will examine the diverse cultures and civilizations that existed in North America prior to European contact, the impact of exploration and colonization, the development of colonial societies, and the causes and consequences of the American Revolution. The course will also analyze the creation of the U.S. Constitution, the expansion of the nation, and the complexities of race, class, and gender in early America. Special attention is given to the experiences of Native Americans, enslaved Africans, and other marginalized groups as the United States developed its national identity.
