Course Introduction
Dynamic Earth explores the processes and forces that continually shape and transform our planet. This course examines Earth's internal structure, plate tectonics, volcanism, earthquakes, mountain-building, and the rock cycle, while also considering the interactions between Earth's atmosphere, hydrosphere, and biosphere. Students will gain an understanding of both gradual and sudden changes to the landscape, the role of geologic time, and the human impact on geologic processes. Laboratory and fieldwork are often incorporated to provide hands-on experience with Earth materials and geoscientific methods.
