Diagnostic Microbiology focuses on the methods and principles used to identify, isolate, and characterize microorganisms responsible for infectious diseases in humans. This course covers laboratory techniques such as culturing, staining, biochemical testing, molecular diagnostics, and antimicrobial susceptibility testing. Students will learn about pathogen-host interactions, specimen collection and handling, diagnostic workflows for various microorganisms, and the interpretation of laboratory results. Emphasis is placed on quality assurance, biosafety, and the clinical relevance of diagnostic findings in patient care and public health.
