Course Introduction
Diagnostic Microbiology explores the principles and techniques used to identify and characterize microorganisms responsible for infectious diseases. The course covers specimen collection and handling, microscopy, culture methods, biochemical testing, molecular diagnostics, and antimicrobial susceptibility testing. Students will learn about the role of the clinical microbiology laboratory in disease diagnosis, epidemiology, and infection control. Emphasis is placed on the application of modern diagnostic tools and interpretation of laboratory results to inform patient management and public health interventions.
