This course explores how gender identities and roles are constructed, experienced, and interpreted across different cultures and historical periods. Students will examine the social, political, and economic forces that shape understandings of femininity, masculinity, and gender diversity. Through interdisciplinary readings, case studies, and discussions, the course encourages critical analysis of intersectional issues, such as race, class, sexuality, and globalization, to understand how they intersect with gender. Students will develop the skills to compare and evaluate cultural perspectives on gender both locally and globally, fostering an appreciation for diverse experiences and advocating for equity and inclusion.
