Course Introduction
Cultural Geography examines the ways in which culture encompassing beliefs, practices, languages, customs, and social norms shapes and is shaped by the physical landscapes and environments around the world. This course explores how human activities and cultural expressions such as religion, ethnicity, urbanization, and globalization influence the organization of space, place, and identity. Students will analyze patterns of cultural diffusion and spatial distribution, consider issues related to cultural diversity and change, and evaluate the relationships between culture and environments at local, national, and global scales. Through case studies, maps, and interactive projects, students gain a deeper understanding of the dynamic interactions between people and the places they inhabit.
