Conservation Biology is an interdisciplinary course that explores the principles and practices of preserving biological diversity and maintaining ecosystem function. The course covers the scientific basis for conservation, including genetics, ecology, population biology, and the effects of human activity on wildlife and habitats. Students will examine the causes of species extinction, tools for assessing biodiversity, and strategies for protecting endangered species and critical ecosystems. Current issues such as climate change, habitat fragmentation, invasive species, and the role of policy and community involvement in conservation are also discussed, equipping students with the knowledge to address real-world environmental challenges.
