Course Introduction
Chemical Biology is an interdisciplinary field that explores the interface between chemistry and biology, focusing on the use of chemical tools and techniques to study and manipulate biological systems. This course covers the fundamental principles of how small molecules interact with biological macromolecules, the design and synthesis of chemical probes, and the application of chemical strategies to investigate cellular processes, protein function, and signal transduction. Students will gain an understanding of key topics such as enzyme mechanisms, chemical genetics, biomolecular labeling, and drug discovery, preparing them to apply chemical approaches to solve complex biological problems.
